    Question

Hey guys, I was wondering if you can buy sythroid on-line. I really believe I have a thiroid condition and my doctor only goes by blood work!! I have been reading up on thyroid conditions and I have ALL the symptoms. I also read that this problem does NOT always come up on a blood test. Just curious
    Any help would be nice

    Hiya,

I didn't find any places that prescribe without your doctors prescription. In other words they refill but don't prescribe.

You might be better off getting a second opinion from another doctor.

    Good luck to you!

    Thumbs down

    Goofy Girl,

Be carefull with the synthyroid!!!!! I have been on synthyroid since 92, and I can understand your fustration with the doctors.

If you think you are slightly hypothyroid, then I would suggest you seek another doctor that will address your concerns and find out why you feeling the way you do.

The problem with taking synthyroid is that if your body is already producing enough of the hormone, and you take the medications, you could make yourself hyperthyroid. Hyperthyroidism can cause "many" health problems.

Has your doctor checked your blood sugar? When I went to my doc in 92 for feeling run down all of the time, sleeping 14 hours a day and still being exhausted, he had alot of blood work done. The two main ones that I remember were blood sugar and thyroid.

If you don't feel right, and your doc doesn't seem concerned enough to do any further testing to find out why, then I would find a doc that listened! I've been through several doctors to finally find one that believes I know more about how "I feel" than he does. He listens!

Your paying for HIS service! Just because he has a certificate doesn't mean he knows what is best for you. Kick him to the curb girl!!!!! Talk to people and see if they recommend anyone.

Good Luck, and try to avoid taking synthyroid until your sure that you need it!!!! (Remeber - Hypo and Hyper Thyroidism has alot of the same side effects).

    Be Carefull!!!!!!

    Hiya,

Go to about.com and you'll find great info there, just click the link that says thyroid dieases. I would not self medicate yourself though with synthroid. You could damage your heart by taking too high of a dose. Your TSH levels are what the doctor probaly checked. The levels can change frequently, if he won't test you again, go to another doctor. Good luck to ya!

If you suspect you have a thyroid problem & your regular doctor is saying you don't....then make an appointment with an endocrinologist. They will run the right tests to see if you are hypothyroid or not. When I was a young kid, I had the opposite problem...hyperthyroidism. My regular doctor was not able to figure that out even with the blood tests. My eye doctor was the one that actually saw the signs. So it is very possible that your regular doctor is wrong.

You cannot buy synthroid online without a prescription from a doctor. If you take synthroid without truly needing it, eventually it will lead you to have a heart attack....that is why you need a doctor to prescribe it & monitor you while you are on it. I've been on it for about 17 years now (had a procedure done when I was a teen & it ended up reversing the hyperthyroidism to hypo) & still have to get my blood checked every 6 months to a year just to make sure I am at the right dosage. Too much & it will damage your heart & eventually cause death.

Go to an endocrinologist if you want the accurate tests done. They do more than just look at your blood.

If you're willing to self-diagnose and self-medicate, why not perform self-surgery and be rid of that pesky thyroid forever? Everything you'd need can be found HERE.

    Hey Cris,

Hyper is when your thyroid is overactive and Hypo is underactive.
