My brother called this morning and said my dog Kinook died. She had gone to live with him this past spring because my baby boy is allergic to dogs. She was a beautiful dog who lived a happy and long life. She has been slowing down for awhile and we knew we wouldn't have her much longer. He said she was playful and running around last weekend but then she slowed down and when he got home from work, she was in her dog house like she had gone to sleep and just not woken up. I haven't told my hubby yet - he's at work and I don't want to upset him there. We adopted her together from the shelter almost 11 years ago and she had been abused so it took months of working with her to get her to trust us. Sorry to go on and on . . . I'm just picturing her big brown eyes and how the littlest things made her happy like throwing her a piece of popcorn or throwing snowballs to her. I know she's better off in doggy heaven where she isn't hurting anymore but it's still emotional. Ok, I'm gonna stop now because I'm all teary and I don't want to get the kids all worked up again.
We are going to go find a nice plaque to put at her burial site. Madeleine wants to put a ball there for her. I keep picturing her when she was a little puppy and I was driving her to the vet. All of a sudden I heard her whining and she had her snout caught in my yoplait yogurt cup! It was the funniest thing - she loves yogurt.
Anyway, I know others here have been through this and I appreciate having a safe place to come remember her. Thanks for listening!![]()

Are We Cruisin' Yet?

Jan
but she was by my side through some very tough times. When I miscarried my first baby, she laid next to me on the bed for 3 days. She wouldn't leave my side until she knew I was alright. When I was on bedrest through my second pregnancy, she would lay on the floor next to the couch all day long! I'm grateful for the memories and I'm happy that we had her for as long as we did.
