Okay Phen friends.....HELP!!

I exercise every morning, I do a good job with Cardio and weights, however I do not think working out in the AM is helping me.

What exactly am I burning off at that time? Should I be exercising after I've eaten my daily intake?? Ulg. I just love going in the AM though!! But I'm not sure it is the most affective.

AM is the best way to exercise. It starts you matabilism (spelling problem) The dr told me that just by doing it in the am it burns 2 times more calories thruout the day. So keep it up and do it in the am....

More good news... In studies that have been done on people who started and stuck to an exercise program, the majority of them were A.M. exercisers!
They said its cause it becomes a routine and since its first thing in the morning its unlikely that it will get put off due to something else later in the day. A.M. exercisers usually have more energy to get through their day as well.

My husband gets the Muscle and Fitness magazine and there is a wonderful article in it about the benefits of exercising in the morning. What you should do first, weights or cardio. It all depends on what you want. If you want to lose fat, they say to do cardio then weights in the morning. If you want to bulk and tone, do weights then cardio.

They say that when you sleep your muscles absorp some of the fat cells and that when you wake up and exercise, you use your major muscles for the work out and it shrinks the fat cells. I am not sure exactly. MY husband took the magazine offshore with him so I don't have the article infront of me. Just go to Wal-mart and read the article. I believe it was on page 100.

I hope it helps you. I know I have lost 1.5 pounds since monday exercising in the morning before breakfast. I do 5 miles on the treadmil then I do some weights.

Okay, good news for Keew bad news for me .

I exercise in the afternoon(lunch time) at the gym & then maybe walk again or do Tae bo at night, plus my crunches at night.

I just can't do the morning thing, kids to school, getting to work, for those of you who do, way to go I don't know how you do it!

Whowhon- Great info, thank you! I do my Cardio first then my weights! YIKES!! 5 miles... good for you, I'm still only at 1.8, almost 2 though. It's been going up.

Desire- It is working for you though!! And you think getting up, getting breakfast and lunches and getting kids ready for school isn't exercise?? Probably more of a workout than my whole routine.

Keew,

You also asked about eating before or after you work out, well, all the articles that I have read say that you should work out on an empty stomach in the morning. This is what is most effective, I believe it is so that you metabolize your food better thru the day, and starting with breakfast. I am not sure how technical that last part is, but definitly on an empty stomach.

Hope this helped! And great job getting up and doing it first thing, I always try...but somehow manage to find that snooze button.
