"By their very nature, many diets "deprive" you of certain foods. When you feel deprived, you may be tempted to overcompensate, eating more then you should. As your weight creeps up again, you feel as though you have failed, and so set even tougher dieting goals. Unable to meet them, you set yet others, and the cycle of failure continues. Get out of the diet trap by not depriving yourself of eating. The first step is to adopt a regular meal pattern, with healthy snacks in between. This in-turn will be working to develop a more positive self-image. "

The meal pattern thingy works for me. If I don't have one, I tend to eat the wrong things.

I walked my 2 miles today.

I stopped by the libary to see if they had excerise videos, it was closed! D*mm!

    Morning, Tredders!

How did everyone do this weekend?

I ran 14 miles! It was great, and I'm feeling so good about it! This weekend, I'm running a 10k race with my uncle. I cannot wait. I'm going to be taking it easy with the treadding though...lot's of walking and hiking. Maybe only one or two runs. I SHOULD go to yoga, I just have such a hard time doing it because I don't get home until after 8pm...just an excuse, I know.

So, what is everyone else up to???

    Wink

Well I certainly didn't deprive myself over the weekend! Waaaay to much junk food and not enough exercise! I did take the kids out with the jogger last night and I st****** the wallpaper from my kitchen so my shoulders got a good workout. I got up first thing this morning and did my "I Want that Body" tape. Now I need to get busy with spackle and primer so I can get busy painting this week. I also went to the grocery store and got my house re-stocked with healthy basics so no more eating out this week! I made hummus on Saturday and my kids won't stay out of it -I want it for me!

    Hey, Thanks Lee!

We started at 8am, and about 75% of the run was in some shade, so it wasn't so bad!

How is your arm??? Did you get the pins out yet?

    Hey, Sarah,

Pins out at noon on Tuesday. Glad you ran in shade! No clue how much swelling/pain to expect after the pins come out, but should at the very least be able to start some walking & recumbent bike at the gym within a couple days, I need some endorphins, pronto! I start physical therapy on Weds. I'm afraid to ask how long til I can ride my bike, but I figure I can start out on the trainer in my living room I put most of my weight on my left arm & just build up gradually. I have a ride scheduled with friends at the end of October that I just refuse to miss.

So, Lots of rest & glycogen loading this week before your race this weekend, huh?

I didnt feel like exercising much today. I was real sore from running over 6 miles yesterday in the heat. my hips and joints were hurtn me. yeah, I'm old. but I did some upper body weights some stretching and 25 min on the bike. tomorrow is spin. so I wanted to take it easy and be ready for that class.

Hey tredders-I'm back to the grind after taking some time to heal. I am going to walk 2 miles tonight after dinner, then a bit of yoga. I've crept up 5 pounds, but inactivity for the last several weeks and this weekends block party (good food!) has caught up with me.
    Cheers!

I did 3 miles on the treadmill when I got back from upstate NY. 1 mile at 8% incline. This week I am going to do both routines on my video tapes (30 mins total) and 2 miles (1 mile at 9% incline)

This 5K thing is going to kill me!! I think the summer is the wrong freaking time to train for something like this...and in TX!!! How STUPID is that??

Anyhow...I'm still at it...thinking I might modify it a bit and just do my own thing. We'll see. Lifting lots of weights now...feeling really good about that.

Thanks for the info Keli...good stuff.

And Sarah...14 miles?? How in the heck do you find time to run that much?? I'm happy to get my hour in...and I run less than 20 minutes of that...do you have little children...going to college...anything that makes it so I have no excuse??

Ok I went out and did some running at the gym. I also hopped on the elipictical trainer and did like 30 minutes. It was a different one than I usually use and seemed to work some different muscles. Regardless if was probably a good change from my usual.
