I'm thinking about stopping phen for a while but I'm scared! Seems like I've hit my first plateu after losing 27 lbs in 3 months. I'm not quite a 3rd of the way to reaching my goal either!

I've only been able to lose weight once on my own, which was 2 years ago when I lost 30 lbs, but I ended up gaining it back plus an extra 10...I'm afraid whether I can do this on my own. I've been trying to watch my portions and not eat fast food, but there are so many other areas I haven't been able to do well with. What's going to happen if I stop taking it? Can I do this on my own? I don't have a lot of faith in myself.

And I've noticed lately that it seems like I'm losing more hair than normal. I'm always shedding, especially after the shower, but more so now than before phen. And I don't want that to happen! It's about my only good physical trait!

Anyways, give me some ideas. I know if I stop and I'm having a hard time, I could start again, but I still need some guidance.

Ceces, time out girlfriend!

You lost almost 30 lbs in 30 days? That is INCREDIBLE! Be proud! Stand tall! That is an amazing accomplishment. Do you know how many dress sizes that equals?

I DO understand your panic though...right after Christmas, I reached my first weight goal...and I panicked. Ok, I freaked out. I was almost done with my phen, and not having a goal anymore scared me. Here is my advice...start by taking one or two days off from phen a week. Make it real busy days, when you won't be sitting around the house, and not the days that you would be most likely to go out to eat. Make sure the day before you pack yourself healthy foods...your lunch, your breakfast, whatever. So all you have to do is grab it. Being busy makes us all thing about grabing the first thing we see...chips or candy from the machine at work...

Set yourself up to succeed! DO NOT set yourself up for failure by buying junk food and keeping it in the house. If you have a vending machine at work, make sure you do not have change or dollar bills. LOL! Know what I mean?

Take is slow...start off with one or two days off and set yourself up to succeed!

And don't beat yourself up if you slip (I should listen to this...ugh). One serving of french fries won't make you gain that 27 lbs back. But make yourself realize, ok, I had a treat! I deserved it! But it's back to the healthy stuff so I can have another treat next week.

Or, as KeliK says, just work extra hard at your workout if you have a little icecream or cookies.

Hang in there girl...let us know how you do! I myself am down to about 2 days of phen a week....and I'm doing ok, although the days before my period start are AWFUL! I have the worst cravings...on Tuesday is was all about MAYONNAISE! Ick!

Love,
Sarah

That's a great idea (cutting down instead of stopping) that way I can see how I do on those days and be prepared.

Oh, and I've lost 27 lbs in 3 months not 30 days lol not that I'm complaining! I'm down 2 sizes, which is great.

Hi i just wanted to say you go girl 27 pounds! we all have more will power than we think phen only makes you not hungry and fill full when you do eat but most of us ate when we were not hungry and did not stop when we got full. so you see phen only works with will power.

I wish I felt more confident than you!

Can anyone relate to this:

Before phen, daily I would eat when I wasn't hungry and didn't stop once I was full. I could go days without my stomach actually growling, but still I would eat. Then, I'd get terrible cravings for certain foods (mainly fast food and sweets) which I would give in to whenever the mood struck.

I'm so afraid if I stop taking phen, I will go back to eating the same way. I have a hard time believing in myself that I will be able to do this on my own. But, I don't want to be on phen for very long.

I don't know. I guess I'm confused and need to vent. Thanks for listening....

Ceces,
Yes, I can definately relate to the fast food(I was a taco bell fanatic) and sweets addiction.

I still deal with the cravings even with the phen.

But you have some momentum going with your weight loss. just focus on that. Ask yourself, Will this cake make me feel as good as being 2 sizes smaller makes me feel?

I'm new - as of today - but I thought I'd share my experience with cravings. I've been on phentermine for a while. I stopped being hungry all the time, but I was still getting cravings for chocolate and salty things - especially at certain times of the month! My doctor has me on this program and he put me on Effexor for the cravings since he says they have to do with your moods. The cravings have almost totally stopped since then. But, I've been at a plateau for a while. I'm taking 30mg of phentermine. Did anyone have side effects going from the 30mg to 37.5? I had a horrible time sleeping when I first starting taking the 30mg, and I'm afraid that it will be bad again if I increase the dosage...
Thanks!
