Mine does that too with any strenous excercise and I think it always has. I don't know what causes it really, it just happens. I think I get got and flushed. Usually after I cool down a bit it goes away.

    Red face

    Hey traidey.

Being as I am blonde with a basically light complexion ANY time I work up a little sweat, my face turns BLOOD red! My sons does ,too. My dad is the same way.
I've had people tell me I better take it easy, looks like I'm about to have a heat stroke. I think some people have capillaries closer to the surface than others or something.
You should always check your pulse to make sure it doesn't go above target range, though, anytime you work out hard.

Yep mine does that too. It is partly cause I'm sooooo white And from your pic I'm assuming you don't have your summer tan yet either.

And of course it is because you are doing an advanced workout...generating heat within the body and burning major calories. Your getting that heart pumping. Just be sure that you don't over exert yourself. They say if you can say you can carry on a conversation then your doing all right.

If you feel like your heart is beating too fast in the middle of the exercise walk in place for a little while until it returns to normal and jump back in

After you do it for a while you get better and you won't be as red. I've been doing it for a month & 1/2 now and I still get red but not like a beet anymore

Ack - mine gets BEET red, too - even when I'm not working real hard and my heart rate isn't really up there. I've had people asking me my whole life if I'm okay, cuz I get soooooo red. I had a trainer tell me once that it's because I'm blonde and blondes tend to have thinner skin and their capillaries are closer to the surface. I don't know if that was a load of hooey or not, but it sounded okay to me. Although my mom is a brunette, and she gets a red face really easily, too. So - who knows. But the skin thickness, complexion, capillary -thing sounds like it makes sense, I guess.

    http://www.mnsfld.edu/~fitness/aerob...v-exercise.htm

Example: 20 years old, resting pulse rate is 60, intermediate level.

    1. Subtract your age from 220.
    2. Now subtract your resting pulse rate (your true resting pulse
rate is taking waking up in the morning).
    3. Multiply this number by your fitness level.
    4. Add your resting pulse rate to this number.
    5. This number is your target pulse rate.
    220
    -20 age
    200
    -60 resting pulse
    140
    x 75% intermediate
    105
    +60
    165 target rate

If you can afford it, use a heart rate monitor when you do cario. I love mine. Many sporting goods stores sell them. Mine is a Polar brand. www.polarusa.com

I get red in the face while I am working out too, but you should get your blood pressure checked just to be sure it's ok. They have those machines at drugstores and pharmacies.(they are free)Holly
