Hi everyone....I know I have not been a member of this group for very long..but I had the greatest news this morning that I needed to share with someone! My son, Brian, is in the Marine Corp, and has been in Afghanistan since November 10th, 2001. He flies in a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter. Well....today he called me and he was on the USS Comstock! He is coming home in 5 or 6 days! I am so happy, not only that he is coming home safe, but that this will be a MAJOR influence on my eating habits. When he left in early Nov, I was so depressed that all I did was drink wine and eat! And I am talking about heavy duty eating, especially really late at night when my husband was sleeping and I was stuffing myself and crying. Since starting on phen last Wed, I have not had one glass of wine and I have stuck faithfully to my diet and exercises and H2O. Thanks for letting me vent and share my great news. I am crying tears of happiness now

OMG, your post made me teary eyed. I don't know how I would handle sending my son off to war. When my oldest to college in August I cried buckets.(It seems rather silly now). I don't know what to say except tell you son thank you and give him a hug. I pray daily for all the men & women fighting for our freedom. May they all come home to us safe.
Are we there yet ???????????

So happy for you!

Paula, my oldest leaves for college this coming fall - I'm already missing him. You'll have to help me through it!

Thanks everyone for the posts. It has been the hardest 4 months of my life..When a CH-53E crashed 2 weeks ago, I just went off the deep end....kept expecting the military to drive up my driveway. After I heard the news at 6 AM I just went out in the woods and started screaming...But he called at 3AM the next morning to let me know he was OK and that his helicopter was not the one that crashed. He is such a special person. I don't know what I did right to make him such a good kid...but he is and I am very proud of him....thanks again for letting me vent. I live way out in the mountains and don't have very many friends I can talk to. But since I have been reading all these posts in this forum, I feel like I know you guys!

Robin,
My husband is in the Army and we were very afraid that he would have to go. I am so thankful that he didn't but he was ready to go. All the military and their families are proud of your son! I am so glad he gets to come home to you. Give him one extra squeeze for me Take care,
Angie

So happy your son is coming home. My husband also is in the Army and is a Drill SGT and seeing these young privates train for war is sometimes difficult but I know my husband will train them well. Please give your son a big Thanks from this military family.

I am so happy for you that your son is coming home!! I can't even imagine what you have been going through. You'll have to give that boy a LOT of hugs from all of us, and a huge THANK YOU for defending our freedom! And as my cousin who is a retired general with the Marine Corps always says: "SEMPER FI"
