    How to increase your metabolism

Want to help burn off those extra calories? What is metabolism exactly? How does it work? Well, it is the calorie burner. Your calories are being burned all day long no matter what your regular and normal routines are. Whether you are walking, running, eating, sleeping, or just sitting at your desk, your metabolism is burning calories. Now how much they burn is another question. Some people have a higher metabolic rate than others do. It is important to remember your metabolism automatically slows down with age. You are burning fewer calories doing the same exact activities than just 5 years ago. So, as your age increases your activities need to increase as well. Here are some other ways to help increase your metabolism.

Exercise is beneficial for several reasons. We each need to exercise everyday to increase our heart rate, which benefits the cardiovascular system. It will also help to increase muscle content and reduce the unwanted fat. Your metabolism speeds up when the muscle content exceeds fat content. Just a few simple exercises a day will help increase your metabolism. Walking is an excellent starting place. Just 20 minutes a day should begin your daily regimen. It is a good idea to always check with your doctor first.

Eating more often, but reducing the portions and the caloric intake can also increase the metabolism. Try to watch the labels for fat. Fresh fruits and vegetables are your best diet source. Also, drink plenty of water. The suggested amount is still eight classes per day. The small extra meals can go along way in curbing the appetite. It tricks your body into thinking there won't be a famine, so the metabolism speeds up to accommodate for this. On starvation diets, the metabolism actually slows down to make the necessary adjustments for the lack of food supply. Your body will think you are starving and will automatically slow down for survival purposes.

Though this is not the best way, The Healthy Choice Nutrition Center says, "studies have shown that small, short-lived increases in metabolism occur after caffeine ingestion."

There are some indicators that may suggest you suffer from a slow metabolism such as fatigue, low blood pressure, feeling cold, constipation, a slow pulse, and dry skin. These can also be the signs of other medical problems so please check with your doctor if you have any of these symptoms.

In conclusion, there are many weight-loss programs that promote diet supplements to increase your metabolism, unless this is your personal choice it is better to increase your metabolism by taking the healthy and safe route.

    And from yet another source.

Eat more iron rich foods. The most common nutrient deficiency is caused by the lack of iron. It’s also, the most common cause of fatigue. Examples of food rich in iron include: green and leafy vegetables, organ meats (i.e. liver), beef, chicken, etc. Or, you can take a supplement with iron.

Ginseng. This truly is the wonder herb. It enhances your memory, alertness, gives you that important memory boost. Replace coffee with the wonder herb. It’s available in many forms; tablets, powder, tea bags, and roots, try them out and choose which method is best for you.

Water. This also, is a common cause of fatigue. Symptoms of dehydration include fatigue, thirst, and dizziness. Don’t let it get this far. Remember it is important to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. You can achieve this goal by carrying bottle water with you. And, drink out of the water fountain every time you pass it. You can also put water into a 64-ounce container, and vow to drink it everyday.

Eat foods rich in B vitamins. These vitamins must be replaced everyday and they are responsible for energy production. Foods rich in B vitamins, includes wheat germ, whole grain breads, whole grain cereals, whole grain pastas, etc. You can also purchase b-complex multivitamins or stress vitamins. You must drink water with these vitamins to absorb correctly, since they are water-soluble.

Honey. It has the perfect mixture of fructose and glucose, which will give you an instant energy boost. Add two to three tablespoons of honey to a glass of water. Or, take honey directly from the spoon. Honey is also a rich source of b vitamins and other trace minerals.

Morning exercise. Taking a brisk walk in the morning will give you enough energy to jumpstart your day. It will also help you lose weight, stay healthy, and sleep better at night.

Ginkgo biloba. Unclog your brain. Ginkgo will give you that mental alertness to help you work efficiently and effectively. It is available in tea, powder, as well as pill form.

Magnesium. This mineral can also cause fatigue if you don’t get enough. Lack of this mineral has been linked to everything from migraine headaches to PMS to high blood pressure. Rich sources of this mineral include chocolate, avocados, almonds, spinach, and barley.

This post was really helpful to me....its stuff you kind of know a lot of but when your reminded of it it makes you think about it..for instance, building up your muscle to help lose fat faster. Thanks for reminding me...its what i need right now considering my motivation has been a little low. More of this factual stuff would be really helpful to me if you can get hold of anymore.
