Talking
First off, I am new to this sight. I have been reading posts for quite a while, and just have not had the guts to post.

I congratulate all of you on your weight loss success, I hope I am that lucky some day. It is amazing on the before and after pics. You all give me the incentive to stick with my diet, hoping someday, I will look as great as all of you do.

I have been on 37.5 mg. phen for a month now. Weighing 186.5 when I started.

I went to the Dr. on Wednesday and lost a crummy 7 pound.

When is the best time to weigh yourself and should you weigh without clothes on,
or with clothes?

I appreciate anyone who answers this question.

Hello and WELCOME! 7 pounds is Great! Why do you think that is crummy???? I think its great. I think the best time to weigh is in the morning but you ahve to be STARK NAKED! LOL! I have alos found that if I am retaining water in the morning, I wait a few minutes after I get up and weigh again and it will be nicer! Good Luck!

Hello and welcome! You are doing fine. While many do lose quite a bit the first month...8-10 a month is really safest....so 7 lbs is great! I know I am a little greedy though...I like to see that needle drop quickly, but the fact of the matter is...it just takes time. Be patient and keep up the good work...YOU CAN DO IT!!

My best tip, (and I'm only halfway joking ) is to weigh first thing in the morning, after peeing of course, and blowing your nose, cleaning our your ears, and removing your jewelry. Shaving your legs is optional, but may help, you never know. Be sure your nails are clipped, too. Every fraction of an ounce counts!

Thank you so much for answering my questions, and wanting to hear about my future progress.

I can not wait till in the morning because I want to weigh myself so bad. I know that sounds crazy.

I just wish this weight would come off quickly, I am so tired of being a fat crack.

Nal, you are just to cool, that was great about cutting your toenails, and stuff, before I get on the scale. That really made me smile.

I will let you all know how I am doing!

7 lbs is FANTASTIC!!!! A healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. So 7 is marvelous!

I weigh myself everyday, only cuz I'm one of those people who wants immediate results. (I know it takes time to lose weight) I see my doctor every 4 weeks and she officially weighs me on Thursdays at 9am. That way it's consistant. I just went this past Thursday and I too lost 7 lbs!

Everyone is right when they tell you to hold flour or sugar and it'll make you feel better. I have a 15 month baby who weighs 24 lbs and when I lost 24lbs, I held her and thought, whoah, I lost my entire baby!!! I've lost 40lbs now since October, so keep going!!! I am new to this boad too, and it's really great motivation. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Welcome!

I know exactly how you feel. I lost 8 lbs my first month and I was soooo discouraged after reading of 20+ lbs weight loss first month for some people. However, I lost 11 lbs the next month and have kept losing. Our stats are very similar. I am 5'4" with a small frame. I weighed 196 in Jan 2001 wearing a size 16-18. Began cutting back a little and I weighed 181 the day I started phen in June 2001. I weigh 143 now and my size 10's are getting real loose. Whatever you do, hang in there. I've only lost 3 lbs the last 3 months! But, I am still losing weight. Don't compare your weight loss to others. That is a mistake many of us make. Losing weight is the goal.

I weigh butt naked first thing in the morning. Get up, go tinkle, strip down, then weigh.

The key to my own personal weight loss has been finding this site and the motivation and inspiration I find here. Stay here. It will really help.

Good Morning All! I got up this morning went an peed and weighed myself buck nakey it said 172, Well hopefully I will get there one of these days.

I just don't know what scale to go by the dr's or mine! Which one is right?

Has anyone ever tried didrex? I think that is how you spell it. A girl at my sons school took it and lost scads and scads of weight. I asked my Dr. if he would give it to me but he said he don't prescribe that kind. I was so upset I forgot to ask why. I know I am a dummy, but I wanted to try it so bad. When he said that I just lost my train of thought. Oh well, maybe next time.

Start date 1-8-02 at 186.5
2-6-02 dr.179
Today 172, I could not have possibly lost 7 pounds in 3 days.

Have a wonderful day all!

Hey there AngieJo...! I only weigh in at the doctor's office -- and even then that is only ONCE a month. As to your 7 pound loss, that is GREAT! Here's my question, on your first visit to the doctor, what time was it? Had you eaten right before, etc? How about this last visit? Did you wear a different outfit?

If your first visit was in the morning and you maybe only had breakfast -- and then this last visit was in the afternoon after both breakfast AND lunch.. and maybe water or pop, etc., plus maybe you were wearing heavier clothes.... then all of that would add up to a different weight. Heck, I have some sweaters that weigh three pounds! I will only make my appointments in the a.m. (no later than 10:30). I almost always wear the same outfit or something very similar -- and I usually don't have anything for breakfast (and just enough water for vitamins/meds). For me personally, I feel that then the reading on the scale is more "true." I don't starve myself the day before or take laxatives or anything like that (because then the reading really would be "false," even though it would probably read a lower weight).

Seven pounds is really good. My officemate (now over-the-cubicle-wall-mate) just started phen not so long ago. Her first month she lost four pounds and this last month (January) she lost three. Granted, her life is more complicated than mine (she's 42 with a 2 year old son AND a husband who is parapalegic (sp?) whereas I am single). -- Don't get me wrong, her life really is great... but I don't have to deal with all that she does. Anyhow... what I am trying to say is that everyone is different in how they lose weight. Maybe you will stay on the course of losing 7 pounds a month? That wouldn't be so bad, would it? I lost 18 pounds my first month (August) and have lost 4 pounds a month consistently since then. Now, I could get upset that it is coming off so slowly... or... I can look at it from the perspective that the slower it comes off, the higher the chances that it will stay off. Heck, if I lost 160 pounds in three months, what would I have learned? Anything that would have stuck in my mind as a good habit? Probably not. Now I can actually have a rational conversation with myself on why ordering a "Pizzone" from Pizza Hut isn't such a great food choice. I can make my OWN here at home and actually be in charge of what ingredients go in it.
