Hi all.. I am so happy. I have been looking for a job since I graduated from college in May, and yesterday was weeping over my bills/ education and credit cards, not knowing what to do, and had decided it was almost time for bankruptcy (almost).. cause I could do no more. Even started working at the mall to help make ends meet, w hich I have never done..Soooo.. lady called yesterday from the prison system where I had applied for a PA job (oopss.. detention center), and interviewed me this a.m., called me back this afternoon, and offered me the job!!! Hours aren't the greatest-- 3p.m. to 11 p.m so I won't see my kid as much (moved to Kansas so he could be around dad anyway!! ) but instead of having to move and leave him behind with his dad I at least get to stay here, and still be his MOM!! So.. needless to say I am psyched!! and happy!! I have a feeling someone must have been watching me cry over my bills, cause right in the middle of that mess.. Hello?? the phone call. Will start soon..can't believe I am so excited about a job that will have me treating murderers/rapists/drug dealers.. but hey.. they all deserve quality medical care right? Hope everyone is doing great with the wt loss, with this news of mine, my weight will be flying off like gangbusters!! Thanks for listening.

WOOHOO!!! Congrats on the new job. 3 - 11 isnt a bad shift, you can still see the kids in the morning for a little while. After you have been there for awhile maybe the possiblity of a first shift will open up. Working at the detention center may not be that great, but hey it's a job and will help you get back on your feet. Good luck with the weight loss as well. Again CONGRATS!!!!

I know.. I am thrilled, and I hope I didn't appear to be complaining. I would prefer day hours cause of Nick.. (can't see him in the a.m. he will be at dad/stepmoms--but.. like you side.. this is not a permanent thing! Thanks so much.. I am psyched!! Actually working around inmates is intriguing to me. I think I will enjoy it. How do you spell relief?? EMPLOYMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alley

    Congrats on the job- Alley!

I worked straight afternoons for 5 years at the local nursing home! It wasn't that bad but it got old after a while! The part was that I never had to get up early! I am not a morning person. But now I work straight days, weekends and holidays off! That rocks! I love having every weekend off! Plus I started out @ this new job with 5 weeks on PTO! When I left the nursing home I had 4 weeks and 2 personal days! Not too bad for having to start all over again @ a new job! Good luck with the new job and keep us posted on how it's going! Take care... Shannon

Hey, do me a favor and slip a little extra dosage of the wrong meds in some of those bady guys medical treatment okay.

Messing with their bodily functions, nervous systems, etc. Anything you can do would be fine with me. Seems appropriate. Hmmmmm.... Don't think I would have passed the interview.

    Good luck.

Congrats Alley - I know how much you had been stressing. I hope things work out. Even working the night shift, you'll still see Nick more than you would if you had moved away. Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks everyone.. and to answer the question of what I will be doing, I am actually a physician assistant (PA), which is a midlevel provider for those that haven't ever heard of us.. (which happens frequently!).. I will be basically doing family practice all day, just happens to be in the prison system!!
About slipping them a bad med.. LOL.. I know what you mean.. but wouldn't want to lose my license to practice medicine.. But will remember that comment!! LOL
Thanks for the support.. will start as soon as my state licensing issues get finished.. Yeah!! Hope everyone is doing wonderfully, the stress relief is amazing!!
