please o please o please don't eat that junk!! i know i did-and i gained 91 lbs with my son! i had the attitude that well, i'm pregnant and i am entitled to eat what i want. well, maybe i was but i'm still struggling with it. 4 years later. talk to your dr about going on the diabetes assoc diet for pregnancy-maybe like 2000 or 2200 calories. you will not be sorry. good luck!

awwww...hang in there...stay focused, I mean, eat healthy and i mean healthy. Don't get that frame of mind that you are eating for two. You ahve done so great...you will be just fine. Maybe just cheat once a week or something. Congrats again on your new addition to the family!

Ok, you've had your little fling, gone a little "I'm pregnant . . . indulge the cravings" nuts - now it's time to buckle down and make a plan to survive the next few months! Because even eating too much "healthy" food will make you fat!

What worked for me during my last pregnancy was the following:
    1. I allowed myself to indulge in "not so healthy" cravings once a week. If I really wanted something and that craving didn't go away after a couple of days, I knew what that weekly splurge was going to be!
    2. Eat lots of fiber rich foods. It helps you to feel full throughout the day and it helps to reduce cravings. Start your day with some Kashi cereal or high fiber toast (Granny's Delight wheat and fiber breat has 6 grams per slice! )
    3. Find healthy versions of the things you crave. For instance, I would crave steak with my last pregnancy so I'd make steak fajitas. I'd still get my little fix of the meat but I'd also get the added benefit of red and green peppers. Or if I was craving something sweet, I would have fruit dipped in fat-free cool whip or a measured scoop of whole fruit sorbet.
    4. Walk. Regular exercise will help so much. I would go out walking with my daughters every evening after dinner. We usually went about 2 miles. I also did some pregnancy workout tapes 3 times a week.
    5. Drink your water! So many cravings stem from your body being dehydrated. I would use the mug from the hospital that shows the ounces on the side. I knew I had to drink at least 2 full mugs a day to get my 64 ounce minimum. I aimed for at least 3 a day and it helped so much.

Another little trick if I wanted something at 9 at night . . . my husband would say, "If you still want it tomorrow, then I'll go buy it for you for lunch." Most of the time, that craving was gone as soon as I ate something healthy. I would also picture myself feeding that food item directly to the baby. Knowing that you wouldn't feed a bacon cheeseburger to a newborn might help you to find a better alternative while the baby is growing inside you! Try making a boca burger at home with one strip of bacon.

You WILL get through this without blowing all of your hard work! Good luck!
