    Hi,

I am going to my internal doctor's tomorrow. I have been having some chest pain when I take a breath. It started Wednsday morning. My husband thinks that I might have pulled a muscle or something but I am going to get it checked out. I had a PE in 2000 so I am alittle concerned. Everytime I breath I get a sharp, heavy feeling in my chest. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Hey Laurie, I too was having chest pains, actually even before I started phen and after seeing a frightening Oprah about women who were fit in their thirties having massive heart attacks, I went the next day and got it checked out. Luckily, my doc immediately hooked me up to an EKG and everything was just fine. I had just started a new job and although I loved it and still do it is stressful at times. I still get chest pains, especially now since taking Phen and I think it's because when stressed even a little it amplifies it through my body and gives me the same sensation of being very stressed. I usually take that as my cue to cool down and start doing some relaxation techniques. If however, you are experiencing pains shooting down your left arms, jaw pain, headache or even pain in your back or flank, go to doctor ASAP. Women and heart attack symptoms are very different than men. Either way, you are doing the right thing. Keep me posted and I said a little prayer for you. Patty

    Triplet,

Thanks, I need all the prayers I can get. I miss chatting with you too! I will let everyone know what the doctor says. I am worried that he is going to tell me to get off of phentermine. I don't want too. But, my health is more important.

    Patty,

I have been having some pains in my back between my shoulder blades. That is why my husband thinks I pulled a muscle. However, it might be stress. I am having a house built and we went and looked at it on tuesday and we saw a crack in the foundation. I thought this morning the pain was going away, I even went to the gym and exercised. But, the real estate lady called this afternoon and the pain started up again-really strong. So, I hope it is just stress. I will talk to the doctor about the stress and see what he thinks. But, I will ask for a ekg and an x-ray to rule out heart attack and lung problems. Thank you for your post. It has helped me calm down and not worry as much.

Might be pluersy. I just had it recently, hubby did too and a friend of ours and now a relative. We all somehow caught some mysterious rare virus that caused it.

better safe than sorry though! Let us know. we'll all be thinking of you

    Patty,

I have been on phentermine since Dec 2001, alittle over 8 months. It still works for me. Although I have to admit I dont' get the surge of energy all the time that I use to get. But, it still works on my appetite and it also helps me to stay motivated. I lost 9.5 pounds last month. I haven't done so good in the past week, but I normally don't lose weight when my husband is home.

    Laurie,

About a year ago, I experienced the same chest pain when I would inhale. As it turned out, it WAS a severely pulled muscle in my chest wall from coughing. The doctor told me it could be painful for as long as 2 months while it healed naturally, and sure enough, after 2 months....pain was gone. I'm with your husband on this one. When it is related to INHALING, you are expanding your rib cage, and with a pulled muscle, it is very painful.

Stellar-My mom mentioned that I might have pluresy. How long did the pain last?

Allyson-I recently started to run and lift weights when I walk. Just small 3 pound weights.
Plus, I have been kind of stressed out. So add weight lifting and stress and you have tight muscles which can get hurt.

I will let everyone know what the doctor says tomorrow.

Laurie, Although I am no expert, I am in health care and am a licensed massage therapist. It could definitly be a pulled muscle. When I am stressed I carry it all in between my shoulder blades. I seriously doubt it is pleursy because usually excess fluid follows that and you are too young. If you feel worse, don't hesitate to go to ER. keep me posted. Don't worry

Out of curiousity have you taken anything like pepcid or zantac, anything like that? I had HUGE pains like you are talking about, when I would breathe in i get sharp-feeling like someone standing on my chest pains. Also hurt in my upper back. My diagnoses was Hiatal Hernia. meaning a hole in my stomach lining that if acid gets there causes huge amounts of pain. I take pepcid to relieve it. Just wondering if that may be it.
