I started my phen 04/06/02. In most of the posts I have been reading, everyone has started out by losing 5 pounds or so in the first week and about 20 in the first month. I have lost NOTHING. I am back up to 194, right where I was a week ago. Maybe from reading all of your posts, I am expecting too much, a miracle maybe, but I can't help but be depressed by this. I am on the 30mg once a day phen. Do you think I should talk to my doc about going to the 37.5mg when I see him again? I'm just beginning to wonder if it's going to help or not. I have drank all the water I'm supposed to, and more everyday. I have been exercising, I have been doing everything I'm supposed to. I do eat, just not very much. Small meals or snacks. Did anyone else have any experiences like this? I'm not losing any inches yet either. Am I expecting too much too soon? Come on y'all, I need your support today...

Keep your chin up Cheryllynn! I don't think I lost too much my first week either.... maybe a couple of pounds by the END of the first week! It will work! Keep doing what you are doing and give it at least a 2-3 weeks before you lose heart! Keep the faith! We are here for ya with new ideas to mix things up if you need!

cheryllynn, it says that you started dieting a while ago & only just started phen, am I right? If that's the case, you could either be on a plateau (which is "normal" after a few weeks/months); or it's also possible that you aren't eating enough/often enough. One common trouble with phen is that it works so well as an appetite supressant that it's entirely possible to forget to eat & reduce your intake below the level your body needs to keep losing. If you've already been dieting & reducing intake, reducing it even more could signal to your body "whoa - don't know when I'm gonna get any more food, better hang onto each little calorie". Some of the folks who take phen notice huge losses intially because of severely reduced intake, but this levels off, so take heart.

What are you eating, and how often during the day do you eat?

Hang in there,
Lee

Before I started taking phen, I never ate breakfast, but I would eat a big lunch and a big dinner and several snacks. I had started a while ago drinking only water. I would have a cup of coffee in the morning, then water all day long. Anyway, since the phen I have been forcing myself to eat something for breakfast, anything. A banana, some oatmeal, anything, and usually a small glass of milk. Then I usually eat an okay lunch, like yesterday I had spinach, mashed potatoes, squash and mac and cheese. For supper I've been eating whatever we're having at home, usually chicken or some kind of beef, but I don't let myself eat too much. Actually, I can't eat too much. I really haven't been snacking during the day at all. I have put myself on this schedule so I will remember to eat, otherwise I probably never would, because honestly, I'm not hungry. I just don't understand why nothing is happening. Maybe you're right and I'm just at a plateu (sp?) Anyway, I'm just gonna try to keep my head up and finish my month out and see how it goes. Trust me, if I start losing, everyone here will know..

Hi Cheryllynn,

Have you ever tried Fitday.com?? It's a free site where you can go in and put in everything you've ate for the day and it tells you everything you need to know! Calories, fat, carbs, protein. I found my pyramid to be way high on carbs! Which initially I thought I was doing so good on what I was eating. But this really puts it in prespective! Check it out!

How long were you doing the coffee/water only? If it was for very long you could have trained your body not to lose.

fitday is a great idea; a few folks who's asked for help have posted the link to their diaries so other phenners can comment.

For me, eating 6-7 times a day, small amounts, is what works best; lots of fruit/veggies & non-pricessed foods.

Try fitday.com & let us know of your progress!

I've been using fitday for a couple of days now and that's how I knew my carbs were too high. I just don't know where to go from here. How do I lower them? I have no idea if what I'm eating has lots of carbs in it or not.

I havent lost any weight either, and Ive been on phen since March 14th. Im eating right and excercising, too! Im trying not to lose hope, but its really hard. I am also on the 30 mg..my doc wont let me get the higher dose for some reason. Says that 37.5 is not that much of a diff...so if the 30 isnt working, neither will the 37.5 (thinking of getting a new doc )

Check the nutrient information on the packages of whatever your eating. I can tell ya right now that potatoes and mac and cheese are pretty high carb...but dang, those sure sound good! I LOVE mac n cheese :P Maybe I will have some ONCE I finally lose some weight (but I wont eat the WHOLE box..lol)
