I just happened onto this site. You guys are a riot! I'm doing the phen thing also. I have done it off and on for about 6 years. It does work, I promise. It has worked for me. My initial loss was about 65 pounds. I just use it now and then for maintenance purposes mainly. I am on of those who lose and find that same 10-15 each winter. I'm a seasonal person. Anyone who has a similar history got any tips? Or any questions for a semi-phen pro. My best advise for new users is what many have already written. Take the phen early on an empty stomach. I put my phen and a bottle of water on the nightstand, set my alarm about 30 min. before I want to get up, roll over and swallow my pill and go back to sleep. By the time I get up I'm an rarin to go. Something I have found VERY useful...I also take 'T-Lite' with the phentermine. You can get it in the weight loss section OTC at any wal-Mart/discount store. It help a LOT if you feel tired and worn out. I can't really say it increases the weight loss, but it does help increase energy/alertness, w/out the jitters. My best advise is this! While you are reeping the strongest effect from phen and your hunger is zapped, change your eating habbits, lose the cravings, it's easier to turn down those no'no's while you are on phen so create new food habits. And when you stop taking it, don't fall back into the old habits, NOT EVEN ONCE. If sweets are your down fall, Phen can make it easier to lose the craving. Sure you will gain all the weight back if you stop taking it and revert back to the old eating ruitine. So make new eating routines. Theres my best advise. The moon lady seems to give awesome advise.

    Hi there 29!
Glad you found us! I have only been taking phen for 3 months now and have lost 35lbs..I think phen is great! I was surprised to hear you have been on phen on and off for 6 years...most things i read out here say that 6 months is as long as you should do it...thats also what my doctor told me too. Are you being seen by a doctor? Have you had any long term side effects? I would like to use phen to maintain my weight loss when i get to my goal weight. what dose do you use to maintain yours?
    Thanks and WELCOME!

You can also add chromium picolinate (200mgs) for sugar cravings.

29/ and forever holding 29/~ loosing 29~ glad you found us.~ WELCOME!!
my story is similiar but less time/ oh, no, actually pretty close to timeframe of yours, just not as much initial weight. / i lost 45-55 lbs in summer of 95, and then gained back 20 with a heelspur injury. I went to a doctor that prescribes phen and lost the 20. i have been on and off phen since then for maintaince. i agree about the chromium pictoliate, and i also concur on the use of a combine/w/program for changing your habits now. agreed. ~
i cant seem to break my own plataeu, so, the only advice i give is, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels." remember that when you are about to eat something you didnt plan for in your alotment for the day.

I'm originally from Oklahoma and live next to the Oklahoma border. Oklahoma is the land of fat doctors. There are a handful in every town. That is all they do in their practice, weight control. I've never had a doctor take me off, when I've stopped it's been my choice. Once I got to my desired weight they would give me fewer pills for "maintenance" twice a week. I've read the warnings also. It's just a risk you take. I did ask my doctor once about the adverse effects. She said that if you were going to have adverse effects to phen it would be early on, when you first began taking it. (or if you took it with non-compatable medications I suppose) Other than that she said it was a relatively safe drug that has been around for years. My mom took it 25 years ago for 24 months straight and she never had any problems that were associated with it. My perception is this, it loses it's effectiveness if you take it continuosly more than a few months, so people have a tendency to increase the dosage. That may contribute to the stigma. And I have heard that longterm use can worsen depression, mood, stuff like that. I take it a couple of months, stop a couple, etc. That way I lessen my resistance and it works again. You know, it's a drug, it's got it's hazzards, but it's been out forever and there's never been any talk of taking it off the market. I personally will continue to take it as long as I feel necessary.

read 'stumbled on you guys',(about 6 topics down) that will help I promise. 37.5 is a large dose to start out on, can you break it in half? You will also grow resistant faster.

I've been on phen for 2 months and all I have lost is 11 lbs. I started off with 30 mg and last time I went to the doctor I asked for 37.5 mg so it's been 2 weeks taking them. I started off at weighing 203 lbs and now I'm 192 lbs. and I can't seem to go down anymore. Did this ever happen to you? I can't wait till I am in the 180's but I know when I am there then I will be anxious for the 170's. I read that people lose 30 lbs. in 2 months but mine is just 11 lbs. I feel stuck and I hate my scale.

Ok you have inspired me, I think I am going to have to order more. I only took it for one month and I decided I couldn't afford to order more. I believe I have changed my mind, maybe I didn't give myself enough time to change my eating habits. I guess I will have to sacrifice that $100 somewhere else I am thinking I will live.

    Cyndia,
I am glad to see that you are back. Email me and let me know how it's going.

HOWDY and WELCOME 29loosing29, glad you found the forum!

It's great to hear you've had long term success with phen and thanks for sharing you experience. Although I do think you have some helpful advice, just remember that what works for you may not always work for others.

As far as taking phen at a particular time of day, that really depends on the individual and how the phen effects them. For some, taking their phen first thing in the morning on an empty stomach works great. For others, taking phen 1-2 hours after eating works the best. Some even take a dose late in the afternoon, it all depends on what works for that person.

    Welcome again,
    Sierra

Angelina, I went to the doctor today for my weigh in. I was so disappointed for losing 15 lbs. in 2 months. He told me that a person shouldn't lose over 1-2 lbs. per week or it will be easy to gain it back. Hang in there girl, we can do this.

I weighed myself on Saturday and I am down 4 more pounds so now I'm 189 (a total of 15 lbs.). So I'm happy because I finally got over the 190's now I have to work on the 180's. And it was weird because it was just a week before that and the scale kept showing 193 and Saturday there it was 189. I even checked to make sure it was on 0 when nothing was on the scale.

Netta, Why are you paying so much for Phen?
I just got my first ** for 30 pills 37.5 mg,
and it only cost me $29.99 I will be taking 1/2 tablet to start. So I figure this is 2 months worth. Thats only 15.00 a month. Are you buying yours on the Internet? I'm from Minnesota and it is so cheap. But I did have 2 doctor appts. before the dr. would give me a prescription. What amount are you taking? Deberdo
