You think I'm the only person in Alabama who knows how to use a computer?
My in-laws are from New York. I hear Alabama and redneck jokes all the time. Just to clarify things - I didn't get married til I was 28. I not only finished high school, but I have 2 degrees. I've never dated a relative. There's no inbreeding in my family. Have I left anything out?![]()

I have all of my teeth. But I do say y'all.
Don't worry. I don't get offended easily. I'd never make it if I did. I have some smarta** brother-in-laws.
Aw shucks, Sher-Bear, we'll take us as meny hillbillies as we kin git, long as ther
as nice as yu!
Yuck, yuck!
Audrey
ps- I'm from NY too, once upon a time!
You'd think there'd be more people from Alabama in here. Everything is fried down here. Plus we eat biscuits & gravy, grits, etc. Oh well, guess I'm the only hillbilly.
Audreyjean,
What part of NY are you from?
Hello Sher-Bear! I'm from Alabama too, so you aren't the only one!!! Roll Tide!!
Roll Tide!!
Sher~Bear and Baileysmom--ya got everything right but one thing--GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!
Roll tide? Is that some kind of game you play with laundry soap? (Look mom, isn't it cute how those hillbillies amuse themselves?!)
Say there Sher-Bear- I'm from Rhinebeck, which is 90 miles north of the city right on the Hudson. Right across from Kingston, 50 south of Albany. It's so beautiful there, but unfortunately it's full of New Yorkers
The weather stinks so it's Colorado for me!
SHER~BEAR, kt and baileysmom,
Ooohh, I can't resist. I MUST post on this topic...
GO VOLS!!!![]()

Ok, I'm from TN, but, I buy my phen in Alabama!
Amy
Roll Tide,
I am not from Alabama originally, but hey I have always been a fan. We just moved here 2 months ago. So far it's just like home. Home for me is Houston, Texas. The only major difference is how nice everyone here is, and how red the dirt is. What's up with that.
Audrey,
My husband is from Poughkeepsie. It sounds like you're near there. Are you?
Baileysmom,
Yeah! Another person from Bama. What part are you from? You don't have to be specific. Just North, Central, Montgomery area, etc.
It's nice to meet you!
KT,
Hi! Which Dawgs are you talking about? We have an arena football team called the SteelDogs, but I'm pretty sure you're not talking about them.
AmyJ,
I shouldn't reply to you since you're a Vols fan.![]()
Just kidding. Seriously, y'all have beaten us so many years straight!!!
Maybe this year, we'll win. I'll be there to see anyway. I hear Tenn & Bama have the best defenses in the country? this year. We'll see. We started out as #3 last year and well we know how that turned out. It's nice to meet you! even though you're a Tenn. fan.
MrsTriv97,
Welcome to Bama. I love it here. We do have the friendliest folks here, don't we? I'm not sure what to say about the red dirt???
How about a neighbor?
I'm from Mississippi.... Go Dawgs!!! That is, Mississippi State University BULLDOGS!!!
Actually, I finished my degree at Lambuth University in Tennessee, but who cares? lol
Just thought I'd try to help keep you company down south
Rena
Hey Rena,
A neighbor? yeah! I'm feeling kind of lonely down here. I like the Bulldogs' dance they do on the sidelines.I'm going to their game against Bama this year. It's in Bama this year. I've never been to Miss. State, but I have been to Ole Miss before. It's the neatest little town there. Is it Oxford? I loved it. It's nice to meet you. I've been reading about you being the water queen! You'll be glad to know that I have a gallon pitcher that I fill up w/ water & ice and drink from it all day. So far a gallon is my limit. Although I must admit that I don't realize how much I'm drinking because it's sitting right here in front of me.
Quel monde petite!
Rhinebeck is 15 miles north of Po-town. I was born there! Marist, Vassar, the bridge. I'm sure your husband knows Rhinebeck, it's lovely there.

Thanks. I love to hillbilly-bash. My ex worked with one. He would buy his toddler a whole bag of cheetos and "Dang! If that boy don't eat the whole thang! Kin you believe it? Lookit 'im go!" The first time we went to his house it was tastefully decorated with doggie-doo. "Dang, if that dawg don't sh** a bunch!"
It is obvious to me that the women here have risen above the effects of generations of in-breeding- AND I SALUTE YOU!

I am talking about the great and glorious Georgia Bullgogs!! OK, OK so they had a little slump the last couple of years--they are ready to set some SEC b*u*t*t on fire.
Go dawgs!!!
You know what?? I live in Washington, but I have to say that the people in the south are the friendliest and generally so polite. People who actually say, "Excuse me". I was in shock. Yes there are some interesting specimens but we have those here too--they just sound different!!
Audrey,
Thanks - I think.I hope I've risen above the inbreeding.

Your story sounds like you're talking about my brother-in-law. He's a true redneck! Getting him together w/ my husband is a riot!
KT,
I like the Georgia Bulldogs too! I'm pretty much a fan of all the SEC teams - except Tenn.My husband said the same thing about Southerners saying "excuse me". When he first moved down here, he went to a UAB/ Cincinnatti basketball game, and couldn't believe people actually said excuse me. Especially in such a crowd. I definitely stand out when we go to NY City. My accent alone.
Hello Sher-Bear . . . I am from Hunstville but I am presently living in Montgomery. I've been a southern gal all of my life. I'm happy to know that I am among neighbors on this board!!
Baileysmom,
I'm from Birmingham. We're just an 1 1/2 hours away from each other. Maybe one day we can meet. I just got back from Gulf Shores so I came right through Montgomery.
Let's keep in touch.
