In another post MDH mentioned having liposuction and that she could barely walk afterwards. Is it always that painful or does it depend on the part of the body? And, how many pounds of fat did they remove.
I remember I saw a show where a woman who carried her weight on her butt and hips had lipo. It was amazing. I had always thought they couldn't remove very much at one time safely but this woman's reduction was amazing. I saw her point. It didn't matter how much she dieted, she kept that weight on her hips/butt. I don't think I'd ever have this done but I am interested. SIS |

I had my upper & lower abs, banana roll done, 1 December 00, 3,500 cc removed, $3,500. I was up and around the same evening. My PS gave me a script of 30 pain pills. I only took 3. However, you can't base your pain or lipo result on someone elses. You know what I mean?
I have heard of and seen pictures of people that have had 10,000 cc's removed. Now that's a lot, and I can understand them not being able to move around as much, but it is very important to get up and move around for circulation. The total amount of fat that can be removed depends on what guidelines your State has set, and what your PS is comfortable with removing. Even after you have lipo, you still have to work to maintain your results. Sleepless, what are you thinking about having done? What are your stats Ht/Wt?

To be honest I can't remember how many cc's were taken out, my Dr. said something about 11lbs. I had my thighs, stomach, and flanks done. The stomach, and flanks didn't really hurt, but my legs did. I also had a breast reduction done at the same time so I was under for 8 hours and was in alot of pain. The breast reduction was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I believe that my Dr. was very conserative because of all the surgery I was having and therefore didn't take out alot with the lipo.

Actually I'm not planning to have anything done. I am far from that point. I honestly don't know what my stats are yet. I go on Tuesday for my one month weigh in and I'll know and post then. I have just always been fascinated by the idea of this being done, not necessarily to me but just the fact that they can do it. I've never known anyone who had it done. That may be because I am in the mid-west...not exactly a hot bed of vanity and plastic surgery. The main thing I wonder is: if you have a problem area and you have it lipoed, and then you gain some weight back, does the weight still want to come back onto that same area? Is your problem area always going to be your problems area? Were you happy with your results? Thanks, SIS |

I had my calves, upper lower thigh and saddlebags done. The saddlebags was probably the most noticable; what a difference!! I was relatively thin at one point and my bags stuck out like a sore thumb! I only took the weekend off bf I started back to work. The exception was my calves; that was HARD! I couldnt even walk up my stairs after the surgury, had to crawl...It took me a little longer to recover, but it was worth it. They were 16.5 bf and now they are about 14.5 inches. Hips 42 to 38 Upper thigh 23-20 lower 20 to 17. The only bad thing about my upper thigh was that the inside skin sagged; not attractive. I have also put weight on. During the first surguries I weighed 155 and gained to 185. The pounds didnt go to one area, although I noticed that my upper body got bigger. I lost this weight since the last surgury using phen and am around 146 now. Just switched to BOntril, its helping again. If you want my bf after pics add on msn.com to my username and I will email them to you.

Wow Lynn
4 grand just for thighs, I guess I'm ignorant of these things, I had no idea just having one thing done was so expensive! I'm not considering it~~I'd love to do my hips, thighs, and especially my tummy. After 3 c-sections, I don't think I'll EVER get rid of the tummy w/o surgery. But I know my husband would NEVER go for it. Maybe after I meet goal, if I still have a real hang up about it, I'll try to talk him into it! |

TillyG, here's a thought for you. Call around to the hospitals or universities in your area. Ask them if they have a residence program for cosmetic surgery. A intern plastic surgeon could perform the surgery under the instruction of the senior plastic surgeon for a lost less $$$$. Although I went to a private ps, we have the Cleveland Clinic and Univeristy Hospital here, and they have interns training for ps. But, for $4,000 you should be able to get at least 3 areas done for that kind of money through a private ps. It all depends on where you live and the ps. Some of ps have built a great reputation (tv appearances, books), and want great $$$$
.You may need a mini tummy tuck, or you may need a full tummy tuck. Only your ps can advise you on that. I can tell you now that you will probably have a scar that goes from pelvic bone to pelvic bone. I have a scar from having my ovary removed, but it is in my pubic hairline, and you can barely see it. I have a second scar inside my naval. Have you done any research on cosmetic surgery? ![]() [This message has been edited by Cyndia (edited September 03, 2001).] |

To those who have had surgery:
One question...in the leg lipo, can they do anything about your knees? I'm curious, but I don't think I could go through with it...I am really short (5 feet even) and stocky...(gotta love those 'strong' german legs! lol) and if I ever got surgery, I'd get my thighs and knees done. Also, to those who have had a breast reduction...how long was the recovery? I know that it is different for everyone, but I am seriously thinking of getting it done (I am a 40 FF)...It's hard for me to walk fast and impossible for me to jog with out getting winded or slapped in the face (lol)...and trying to find clothes to fit is impossible, it stinks...if anyone has advice, I'd greatly appricate it. Thanks

Well, like I said, I'm not really considering it. I was just shocked that $4000 would only get you that far!
If I ever did do it, I would definately go to a private ps. It's not that I couldn't afford the $4000, I guess I just thought that would go a little farther! |

You go to a board certified REPUTABLE and ESTABLISHED plastic surgeon. One who has done the procedure you are looking for on numerous occassions. This is a surgery that should NOT be considered lightly. PLEASE...to anyone considering this. Dont go for the cheap one. Go for an experienced one. I love my Phensters too much to ever get hurt. Hi Stacy311,
I had a breast reduction in May of 2000. It was the best thing I have every done for my self, and insurance paid for it. I was a 36DD for most of my life. I am now a perfect 36C. I can and do go braless. I can now run and be comfortable. I also had lipo done at the same time in my stomach, flanks and inner thighs, so it is hard to say how long my recovery and pain was. I think that the lipo hurt more. I couldn't lift my 1 1/2 year old for about 6 weeks. My husband stayed home for 3 weeks to help me out. I had a hard time washing my hair for quite awhile. I also couldn't reach for a long time. I have some scars but not bad and they are alraedy fading. Like I said it was the best thing I have every done. You really should look into it ![]() MDH |

Grocery store? It took me 9 years and 7 consultations, and I had to pay for each consultation, mind you, before I finally went ahead and had liposuction, plus the research and checking references. It's hardly like shopping at the grocery store.
However, for me, I just don't freakout over things, but that's just me. There was a staff of 5 and my PS. The anesthesiologist instructed me to start counting backwards from 100. I said "there's no place like home", "there's no place like home". I was out like a light! In by 9a, out by 1200, up and around the same evening. I'd do it again in heartbeat. Just hate that I put it off as long as I did.

By the way, some of the best doctors are not board certified. You could very well have your lipo done by a Dermatologist. A Dentist could do chin and cheek implants. And, paying $10,000 doesn't necessarily mean you'll get what you paid for. You just have to do the research and reference checks.
