Cool
Hi everyone! My doctor just prescribed Phentermine for me. Does anyone have any helpful hints/suggestions? My weight is 174 at this time (had an increase in the last few weeks, so I'm hoping this will help). This is the first time I have taken prescribed drugs for weight control...over the past 1.5 years I lost over 100 pounds. Since I have been putting some on the last 2 months I thought it might be time for some additional help. Feel free to let me know your experiences or what helped you. Thanks!!

Welcome Bandie,

I have lost 230 pounds and have 70 to go to make my goal. Like you, I have never taken a diet medication in my life. I also was stalled in my weight loss and found I needed to work on decreasing my portion sizes.

I started on the time released 30mg Phen capsules on April 10 at a weight of 216 pounds and I am now at 195. I don't take the capsules everday because I work 12 hour night shifts and find taking them 4-5 days a weeks works fine for me.

When I took the first couple of pills I experienced a headache, a queasy feeling in my stomach, lightheadedness, dry mouth, cold hands and feet, and got profoundly tired but had trouble sleeping. Drinking water, lots of water, eased these symptoms.

Now, I occasionally get the lightheadedness, still have the cold hands and feet, and the dry mouth. I no longer get the profound tired feeling but I do have difficulty sleeping still. I think only taking the medication 4-5 times a week is a good thing for me because it gives me the opportunity to get a few nights of quality sleep. I also don't want to get myself into the habit of thinking Phen is a wonder drug. It reduces my cravings and is allowing me to decrease my portion sizes but, as you know, no drug can teach you healthy eating habits and exercise; the 2 essential ingrediants for a healthy life.

Everyone's experience differs so you might have different symptoms or none at all. Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss and good luck on the rest of your journey.

Elisabeth

I just started my phentermine two days ago...so I'm real fresh here. <G>

I have experienced hardly any side-effects at all. I am not nauseated, have no diarrhea, etc... I found in the last two days that I've slept just fine. I'll see if that continues to hold true.

The first two days I hardly could fit a thing into my mouth. Just didn't want it and seemed to have no room. Today, however, I was able to eat a lot more (compared to the last two days at least). But the portion I ate was still pretty small.
