Phen vs Didrex(benzphetamine) vs Tenuate(DIETHYLPROPION) vs...

anyone know the differences between these...phen is seems to be losing a lot of its appetite depressing affects for me so was wondering if anyone had any info on these other weight-loss drugs. They seem to be fairly new since I haven't heard of them before. I assume that the Didrex is simular to phen since it's an amine but if anyone has any information I bet we would all like to know...Ideally I would like to use a different one each month or so ...so I don't build up an immunity as quickly.

Phentermine resin (Ionamin®) was approved by the FDA in 1959. Phentermine hydrochloride (Fastin®) was approved by the FDA in 1973.

Phendimetrazine (Bontril®) was approved by the FDA in 1961.

Benzphetamine (Didrex®) was approved by the FDA in 1960.

Diethylpropion (Tenuate®) was approved by the FDA in 1959.

DEA Schedules of Controlled Substances

Schedule I—Substances that have no accepted medical use in the US and have a high abuse potential. May not be prescribed.

Schedule II—Substances that have a high abuse potential with severe psychic or physical dependence liability. Schedule II controlled substances consist of certain narcotic, stimulant, and depressant drugs. Prescriptions must be written in ink or typewritten and signed by the practitioner except in a genuine emergency, in which case written confirmation within 72 hours is required. No renewals.

Schedule III—Substances that have an abuse potential less than those in Schedules I and II, including compounds containing limited quantities of certain narcotic and nonnarcotic drugs. Prescriptions may be oral or written, and up to 5 renewals are permitted within 6 months.

Schedule IV—Substances that have an abuse potential less than those in Schedule III. Prescriptions may be oral or written, and up to 5 renewals are permitted within 6 months.

Schedule V—Substances that have an abuse potential less than those in Schedule IV. Schedule V controlled substances consist of preparations containing limited quantities of certain narcotic drugs generally for antitussive and antidiarrheal purposes. These drugs are subject to state and local regulation and a prescription may not be required.

phentermine is C-IV
phendimetrazine is C-III
benzphetamine is C-III
diethylpropion is C-IV

All of the above mentioned drugs are similar to each other, but they are each different in their own little way

Ideally, flipping back and forth between anorectic drugs would seem like a good idea (LOL), but that is not recommended.

"Concurrent use of diethylpropion with other anorectic agents is contraindicated. Diethylpropion is not recommended for patients who used any anorectic agent within the prior year."

Robin I am going on my fouth month of Phen and am getting anxious because I really want to lose 10 more pounds before my wedding . My stats are sw-164/cw-153/gw-135. I was thinking of trying xenedrine with ephedrine in it but wondered if it wasn't smart to take after taking phen. Phen still works but definately not as well. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

I would suggest not to take anything else with phen. Just do 1 drug at a time It is not a good idea to mix over-the-counter products with pharma products of the same type stuff. Same type stuff would be STIMULANT stuff ----&gt; ma huang, ephedra, caffeine, active ingredients in decongestants. It's just too much stimulation! Remember, it's best to do 1 thing at a time

You could quit taking phen for a week or two and then try again. If you stayed off all types of stimulant stuff for 1 or two weeks, this would be best and then you could start again. Give your body a break and let it rest. You will notice the difference while resting (zzzzzzzzzz), but this is good because you will notice phen when you start again The longer you can rest, the better it will work when you start again.

If you are thinking about trying some over-the-counter product, it would be best to stay off any type of stimulant product for a couple days (at least) before starting something new. Not only do you give your body time to get rid of the old drug, but you also rest while you are doing this.

Over-the-counter products make some people feel nauseous. You might feel "speedy" in a bad way. You need to talk to JK. She knows these type products better then me. They work for her and she seems to like the effects.

Here are two of the most popular ones. I have not tried either so I don't really know which one is best.

Remember that most of these products contain caffeine and the same ingredients that are in most decongestants. Be careful if you are on any prescription or over-the-counter cold meds.

Decongestants make you feel wired.
Antihistamines make you sleepy.

Hydroxycut Capsules from Muscletech:

Hydroxycutt works better than phen if you work out on a consistant basis....

Xenadrine gives you a boost when you work out but it doesn't cut the hunger pains like hydroxycutt....

My drugs of choice.. (Robin plug your eyes) for the last month.. no phen... I am on vicoden & asprin ... I get more wired from a silly pain killer than I do phen. Oh and yes I am in real pain (broken teeth) I don't just take it

I tried mixing 5 HTP with my phen once and WHO HOO I cried for 3 days straight... too much serotonin I guess or maybe not enough ... man it was bad.

Hi Robin,

Thanks so much for the response. I would never take the two together I would like to make it to my wedding day lol.I didn't take phen yesterday and ate everything in site. I took it this morning and definately have control back. Think I will just stick with phen. I love this site. Its like having a whole new group of friends. thanks
