    Hi!!

I just started taking Phen 37.5mg tabs last week. I have Hypothyroidism and also take .4mg of Sythroid(pretty high dose) I feel completly strung out. I take the Phen in the AM and the Synthroid in the early PM and no caffiene (a lot of H2O) but I feel like my body is racing. My Dr. said it was ok to take both meds together I was just wondering if anyone else is doing the same and how they feel.
I am very hopefull that this Phen will work <fingers crossed> 3 yrs ago I had Hyperthroidism and lost a lot of weight..it was lovely but radiation therapy killed my Thyroid function and in the past 2yrs I have gained 80lbs! I now weigh 202lb. I am hoping to lose about 50-60lb. If any one has any advise I'd be appreciative.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Yes, I am also on Synthroid and Cytomel, I am on .1 of Synthroid and 25mg of Cytomel. I also had the same feeling and still do from time to time on Phentermine. First of all, 37.5 is a lot to take at one time. I divide my doses of everything. I take my cytomel and synthroid first thing in the morning. I take 15mg of Phen a couple of hours later, then I wait about 3-4 hours later and take another 15mg of Phen. I then take my other half of my cytomel in the evening. At first I couldn't sleep but that did get better. I've been on it since Nov. 25 and I've lost 31 lbs! I think because you have the thyroid medication you have a better chance of keeping the weight off.. One question though, why does your Dr have you on such a high dose of Synthroid, and why isn't he supplementing it with Cytomel or T3? If you are hypo, it's usually a critical balance and that is probably 1/2 the problem you have a weight problem to begin with Synthroid is T4 only and it's not enough to balance you. My bet is that you've been increased and increased? If you'd have some balance with T3, you'd be much better off and probably feel better too!

I'd ask your Dr to give you a prescription for 15mg's of Phen so that you can take them so that you don't get so strung out at one time. I don't think you probably need 37.5 mg at this time. I'd also ask your Dr why he doesn't have you on Cytomel?? I've struggled with this for so long, I've finally gotten educated and it's finally paying off!

I have been taking phentermine for about 1 year now and have also been on synthroid that entire year. I only take .1 mg of synthroid which is quite a bit lower than your dosage. I have had no problems. My doctor knows I am on both and seem to have no problem with it. I dont know if the dosage amount would make a difference. Good Luck!

    Thank you for your info!

    I really appreciate it!

I have talked to my Docotor about my T3 levels and the blood test came back in normal range ??? So he did not prescribe Cytomel but the reason my Sythroid is at such a high dose (.4mg) is because I had absolutly no function whatsoever and no Thyroid hromones. And actually my Docotor has me at a dose slightly higher than needed to push me into a state right near the boder of high Thyroid function to enable me to lose this weight and gain control of my other symptoms (hair loss/menstrual prob/dry skin/lethary)
I hope this Phenteramine works I need to shed these pounds.
I will take your advise and split my dosage throughout the day.
Thanks again and congrats on your wight loss

I appreciate the responses,at least I know I'm not alone!

    Take Care!

    Rebecca,

For everyone that normal range is different. The Free T3 levels should be at the high end of the normal range. The Free T4 levels should be in the middle and most of the thyroid experts could care less about the TSH.

    Hi!
Thanks for the info, All I know is it took almost 2 yrs for my Docotor to get my Sythroid level right, all the time getting my blood work doen evey month (ouch)
But I did split my Phenteramine 37.5mg in half and took them about 6hrs apart and I fell so much better today!Thank you for your words of wisdom! Tomorrow is my forst weigh in and BP check this will be the real test. I don't have a scale at home (I don't want the nasty thing in my house) so I'll see if I have lost weight in these first 2 wks! I can't wait!
Thankyou again for your good advise!
    -Rebecca
