Hi, I just wanted to share my experience. I've tried not to be judgemental, just to give you the information.
Background:
I was on phen-fen for a few months about 5 years ago. My results were remarkable and I experienced no side effects. I went on and off the medication for about two years ago (using a supply I'd hoarded when rumors of the litigation began).
I've used phentermine (about 30 mg.) infrequently for the past couple of years. I put most of my weight back on.
A little over a month ago, I started taking the phentermine regularly again and began a new diet and fitness program. I saw results but they were so slow so I asked the doctor who prescribes phentermine for me if there was anything else he could give me to boost my results. He upped my dosage to 37.5 mg per day.
I took the 37.5 mg for a week. I was aware of my heart racing whenever I wasn't active. I had mild chest pains and felt a kind of twitching sensation in my muscles, especially at night.
I went to see a different doctor yesterday. My heart rate is up to 100 from about 70 a week ago. He advised me to go back down to 30 mg. I was reluctant, because I am seeing results, but the way I feel has scared me into following his advice.
Two more things:
1. I've never been obese but have hovered been between 15-20 lbs. overweight -- except when I was on phen-fen and in the period following that.
2. My doctor pointed out that the guy who has been prescribing phentermine for me really has no idea what this stuff could do to me in the long run. I will probably stay on the 30 mg. for another month and then phase it out. I hope to be at a weight that I'm comfortable trying to maintain by then.
Best,
Kristie
