    Unhappy

Hi, I 'm new to this board... I really am looking for information on ANY drugs except that drug they took off the market.... If you have taken XENICAL, PHENTERMINE, ADEPEX,MERIDA, EXERCISE IN A BOTTLE, FAT TRAPPER,,, ANYTHING please tell me if it worked for you how long it took..How much u lose?? Where can I get it... ???? and who writes the prescrption? can I go to my primary care pyhsician.???? will insurance cover the MEDS??????? I have so many questions. I would just be happy losing 2 lb at first as long as I see it is coming off... I am so desperate right now and depressed.. I just had a baby girl 5 weeks ago, that put weight on me..the pregnancy.. but I was FAT before then. DH said he does not want me to take anything.. and he said you can do it w/ out it.. I tried to tell him that I have tried for years before we met.. and I'm still FAT so what does that tell you.. IT DIDN"T WORK.. he does not understand and that's what makes it even more frustating,,, I hate being FAT.. I weight about 230lb I am 5'2... Need I say more.. he said that he is NOT going to pay for me to take any weight loss medication I will have to use the little money I have to buy it.. I am not working now... at least for about 6 months.. It's frustrating now having your own money that way he won't tell me I can't buy the MEDS because it's my money. He wants me to loose it naturally,, like going to the gym... I am willing and I want to join a gym.. but I also need something esle to help me.. Besides w/ 2 kids it's hard to go to the gym everyday.. (I could only go on the weekend sat/sun.. and that's not enough by it self to loose I need something else too. I don't mind only going on the weekends, beisides I really don't want the baby in daycare soooo soon,, and I'm nervous about her being in others care being she is so small..... A Luicille Roberts is opening up here soon.. I want to join.. I AM NOT GOING TO BE FAT ANYMORE...!!! I have to keep saying this... I HAVE TO DO THIS!! Now dh is saying that the gym might not be worth it if I can only go twice a week.. he said it doesn't pay.. but what the H$%% am I suppose to do with the children?? Well, I just thought of something that will work for sure.... I don't have any family here, so will have to put them in daycare for a day or so during the week to go to the gym.I really don't want to put the baby in...... the daycare chrges $25 a day for the 4 yr old and for the baby she said it would be $50 a day. We can only afford once a week.. We already have the 4 yr old going twice a week.. =$50.. we just can't afford $150 pre week...WHY CAN"T THE GYM HAVE DAYCARE!!!! ???? You know what? it will all workit self out.. I just have to keep my GOAL in mind... 135Lb A NEW ME!!!!! I WILL DO IT...

Welcome Dimeinga! I am sorry that I don't have any easy solutions to offer you but, you have made a positive step forward when you found this forum.

I can see the frustration running all through your post! Keep in mind you are probably having a touch of post pregnancy "baby blues" as well. Don't worry about how long it will take to lose all that you want to lose. Take it one at a time. Drink TONS AND TONS of water and work on trying to find exercise time. Exercise videos can be done at home in a relatively small area. Why not start with that? Richard Simmons is an easy beginner, I personally love the TAEBO tapes. You need no equipment (except VCR) for these!

One thing is for sure , you will find lots of understanding kind people here to support you. We are all fighting the same demon! Good Luck and look forward to seeing more posts as you make progress!

Have you already made the decision to use a diet drug? Are you just trying to figure out which one to use now?

Have you tried the over-the-counter stuff before? Does this work for you? It's the cheapest, but most of the products are garbage. There are some good ones but I don't know any.

Xenical and Meridia are expensive. There's no generics for these two drugs. Buying them on-line cost about the same amount of money as it would if you got them from a local pharmacy without insurance covering it. It will cost you between $4.00-$8.00 a day if you take Xenical or Meridia and your insurance doesn't cover it. Insurance companies are more likely to cover the cost of Xenical and Meridia before the will phentermine.

Phentermine is cheap compared to Xenical and Meridia. If you get it from a regular pharmacy it might only cost you $1.00 per day (without insurance.) It can cost you up to $6.00 per day if you get it on-line.

I don't know if your primary care physician will prescribe diet drugs. Call his office and ask. It's worth a try!

If your doctor wont prescribe something for you, you can always order on-line. If your insurance wont cover it, order on-line and save the money from the doctor visit. If your husband *****es that it cost too much money, tell him that you will save him some by not joining a fitness center and you will buy some video tapes so you can exercise at home. Let him know just how much this could cost him and he might see your point and agree with you.

hi, I wanted to cry reading your sadness. I’m not sure where to start. humm the gym, have you tried the YMCA? I have lived all over and the one thing that I have found is that most YMCAs do offer child care, and its "free" child care with membership. memberships are around 40 a month some cites more some less. some places the free child care is only from set times...M/W/F
9am-11am t/Th. 3pm-5pm just to give an idea, some are child care anytime but only up to 10 hours a week. Many YMCA’s are very nice. not as fancy as other gyms but nice.. they are also nice for the fact that if you have a membership though them you and your family. can get discounts on swimming lessons, ti chi ect. oh and free aerobic classes. lol no I don't work for them infect I don't even have a membership though them right now. we are mil. so we have
free gym and I am able to work out while the kids have swim lessons. but I have gone though the Y just for the free child care... would cost more to pay for a sitter and go to the free gym. I hope this gave you something to look into. As far as the weight... you can take all theses meds ... loose your weight and gain it all back... you have to look at your life... and why your at the weight you are at. then find a way to change it. make a life change. lol am I talking out of my ***? prob. I have NOT been over weight for most of my life. infect I have been thin for most of my life other then when I am preg.. However I have been a smoker 1/2 of my life. I know the 1st time I quit it was cause I was preg.. so... "lost the weight" but right after she was born I want back to smoking "gained the weight" my life style had not changed the 2ed time I quit was the same and I started
up again..... This time I Quit for the same reason got preg.. but This time I changed my life.... the HOUSE quit smoking... (not that we ever smoked inside) but my husband was a smoker and so was I we both quit but even more then that we became (NONSMOKERS)wild how things change when you change your state of mind.... before, all of our friends smoked now... I am sure there is 1.maybe.2 but most of our friends arnt smokers. I guess all I am saying is to take a look at
YOUR life but also at the life for the people around you. My mom and I have talked a lot about this (I have never seen my mom thin I am in NO WAY trying to say get rid of your friends for family. Please NO ONE take it that way ... just look at and ask.... OK what do I do for fun...what does my friends and family. like to do for fun..... do we get together and go out to eat? or do we get-together and go bowling, go to the parks, go boating, ect. One more thing ... lol OK 2 and I will stop. My mom told me this her friends mom told her.... be careful when you go out to eat with someone who is bigger then you are. for if they order 2 big Macs a supper fries and a
milkshake. it wont seem to be a big deal to order 1 big Mac super fries and a soda. 2, if you want to be small order small, if you want to be med. order medium, large order lg. and of corse if you want to be SUPPER SIZED then order supper size. I don't know some things to think about if any of it helps GOOD if not please just dismiss it. If I said anything to hurt or upset you I am
truly sorry I in NO WAY want to hurt anyone. I wish you the very best of luck. oh and as far as the drugs... I am on phentermine and xenical I like them both I think they help a lot they make my weight loss go faster and easier it also keeps me motivated sense I am seeing my weight go down. My inc. does not cover mine but I do know many people do get it covered. good luck once again

    Hi Dimeinga,
I started to do work outs w/ jazzercize, when my first child was 1 yr.(she is now 10)It offered daycare for nominal fee ~$1.From there I joined a gym when my second child was 2 yrs.The daycare there is a max of 2 hours and costs ~$2.They loved it.We called it the gym playgroup. They met friends there they still have and visit with, because I too made friendships w/ the mothers. So it was good for all of us.Also they don't let SICK kids in the gym daycare.I wish I started the gym when my kids were 6 weeks.I see other mom's doing this but I was always so wiped out, thought I deserved the time off from exercise. (I have always worked out through both my pregnancies)Also I always thought I was setting a good example to my children about getting exercise to take care of your health.

You are ONLY 5 weeks post partum.Don't be so hard on yourself on how you look.Your hormones are in full swing for the first 8-9 mo.

I totally understand where you are comoing from. I was 230 when I had my daughter in Oct 1999. I am still fighting the battle. I am 182 now. I was down to 174. It's a slow process But I think if I had never started trying I may be 280 you never know. Talk to your dr about the meds. Right now finances are tough here. So I get 1/2 the script at a time. That is about $15 every 2 weeks. That's for Phentermine 37.5 If I was you I would start taking Chromium I have been reading up on it and it's good stuff. Keep up you WILL to do this. You can do this and to be honest it's nice to have support. But in the long run...If we can't support ourselves we will get no where. Be strong for yourself. And the heck with your hubby's opinion on the meds (just as long as it doesn't cause serious fights) If you can get a script from your dr then that's the way to go. Good Luck and please keep us posted...You can email me if you would like at lil_mar@ztrain.com

Like everyone else is saying, don't be so hard on yourself. Your daughter is only 5 weeks old and remember the old saying, it took nine months to gain it. Give youself some time.

I agree with the posts above. Look for a YMCA and if you can't find that, do exercising at home. If you get on a schedule of doing the routine at certain times, you will more than likely keep it up.

I'm lucky, my gym has daycare but I also have an older son so I don't need to use it that often. But honestly, I haven't been to they gym since the week before Xmas. I just started Phen on 1/10 and as of yesterday, I am down 9lbs. I ordered it on line and it wasn't cheap. I've read that some people can get a prescription from the Dr. and that is much cheaper.

I did Phen in 1999 with the Aikins diet. I did the Aitkins diet for about 1 1/2 months and lost 16 lbs. The last month I did Phen with it and took off another 8. I was also exercising quite a bit but unforunately, I fell off the deep end and that's why I'm back.

Well, Good luck in whatever you choose and remember, just keep a positive attitude. Any diet you do consistently will help you lose weight.

Have you every tried Dexatrim. I did this once and I'm not sure if it was just my mind saying "you're dieting, you're not hungry" or if it actually worked. It certainly didn't surpress my appetite anywhere near like Phen does. If you haven't heard of the Aitkins diet, let me know. Dr. Aitkins has a book out. It's about cutting out carbs. As long as you follow it, it works Great.

Dimeinga, I'm on Phen now, but I lost 50 lbs on my own about 2 years ago. I cut out a lot of fats and sweets. I drank a lot of water, walked, and exercised at home with Richard Simmons videos. I just took it one day at a time.Oh, I also wrote down everything I ate during the day, that was an eye opener. It helped me to say no to extra food. I wish you the best of luck and God bless you.

Hi there fellow shorty! I hear you on the weight gain with pregnancy. Pregnancies are how I gained my weight....all 50 extra pounds of it! I am 5' tall and know how hard it can be. I am also 34 years old so age, pregnancies and full time jobs keep one from having time to focus on weight.

I am getting results from phen even though they are slow. I am losing about 1 to 1.5 pounds per week...it isn't much, but compared to gaining or just staying the same, it is ok.

I tried all of the over the counter diet stuff and even Herbalife and some other similar companies....with no success and major money loss. Phen far outweighs them all for me.

Best of luck in your weight loss journey. Find what works and do it!!! My husband is not happy that I take phen but I do it anyway. I am not trying to cause problems but I really, really will feel better about myself when I am not so fat.

    Donna
