Has anyone read any medical studies or talked with a medical professional about the safety of long term use of phen? I have been taking phen for 2 months and have taken it on and off for brief periods of time over the past 3 years. I am 5 ft. 6 inches- went from 167 to my current 144. I feel great at this weight, but can only maintain it with the help of phen. I worry about the long term effects of phen use and would like to hear any information you may have on it. Thanks!

MJ-

I have been taking it on and off for about 2.5 years. I use to maintain my wieght also. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the long term side effects are. I have read all kinds of info about it, but the thing that I have noticed most is that all the information seems to contradict each other and to be honest, I don't really think that anyone knows for sure. All that I have managed to do in my search for long term effects is make myself paranoid. Everytime something feels weird, I think it is because of phentermine. This is a question I'd really like the answer to as well, but I don't really think that there is one.

I was hoping that some other people from this site would be able to give us some more information. You would think someone would know something. I mean, everyone on this site talks about everything else BUT the long term side effects! Can someone out there please give us some insight? One would think this would be a a very important question to get an answer to! Why has not anyone else responded? Thanks for your response!

The fact is, there aren't any big clinical trials investigating long term use of Phen. AND...all the ** info suggests Phen for SHORT TERM use. So, 0 research means 0 info. I've been on Phen a little over a year. I have always skipped doses, sometimes take half doses, and alternate between 37.5 and 30 mg. I have only increased my dose a few times...and then I cut back down in the same week. Although the Phen will never feel like the first few doses, it remains effective. I have maintained my weight loss....I have 20 lbs to go. I'll have a physical in June; I always skip phen for 1-2 days before the exam; I'll see if blood pressure is still OK...that would be a good area to monitor for long term use. Intermittent use would be best; this gives your body a break.
