    Hi!
This is so cool! There are 11 of us who have committed to support each other in our walking efforts:

Peejer- we walk at the same time for the same amount, which for me totals exactly 3 miles. I'm working up to the 4 that one of you (sorry I don't remember who) is doing.

I think we should call ourselves
    Treaders and Shedders.

Arrgh!!My husband didn't come home until 10 pm last night. So I didn't get my walk in. He was having someone look at our brakes and it took them the whole evening. I guess that means I have to make up for it tonight. : )

Treaders and Shredders sounds good to me.

how about a running club? You aren't burning very much calories by walking only.

    Hi Delilah!
Boy, I'll support you running every step of the way, but there ain't no way my flabby butt and oversized boobs are ready to run!!
Have you been running for awhile? Reached a goal weight? I thought about maybe doing some jogging once I get back into shape but walking is honestly better for the joints and just as good cardiovascularly as running as long as you keep the brisk pace (which can be different for everyone depending on their size, current health etc.).
This club started out of my desire for support. If you would like to see a 'runner only' club, by all means put up a post. I've no doubt you'll get enthusiastic responses!

Official start date? Well, for me it was today. I'm already wondering about tomorrow because I have to pick my sister up at the airport at midnight, which means home at 2! yuck!
Some ideas were floated out there about how to monitor the group, communal goals and all. I dunno. Just gettin' my butt out the door at 5:30am is a serious accomplishment for me!
So tie up, step out and enjoy!

    Happy, Happy!

Hello, club! I am a run/walker. I try to run as much as possible with SEVERAL walk breaks. I typically do a 12 minute mile, which isn't very fast, but better than nothing. Sometimes for something different, I walk the three miles with the incline on the treadmill turned way up. Can I join this elite group too? This sounds like great motivation. I have taken off the last two days and am going to slip my shoes on in a minute and get my three miles done. I use my treadmill when the weather is cold or hot and I go outside when it is nice. I live it Texas, so that only gives me about 6 days out the the year when it isn't cold or hot!
    Here are my stats:

sw 166 on Phen 21/2 weeks ago
cw 154 Opps, I gained a pound it was 153
gw 140 by Sept 1...I am going on a cruise.

    GOOD MORNING Walllllking club buddies,

I am sooooo excited and have the greatest news to share..... I have been having the hardest time lately since I went off phen. That's why I joined "the club"

I finally got my lazy and jiggly butt off the couch last night, I didn't walk I didn't run but I did Rollerblade for 2.5 miles. I had to put the baby in the buggy, so I didn't go as far as I could have, but it's a start. I was just so excited to share with you all............

Does the rollarblading count, or is it too easy? I am affraid that maybe as close as I come to running (unless someone or thing is chasing me )

Have a great day, will check in tomorrow.

Sea you go girl, make sure the doc doesn't fall in love with the new you (you sexy thang)

    AudreyJean,
Hey you are right that if you are really out of shape that walking can get your heart rate up just as much at a brisk pace, but doubful for long. The thing is walking isn't just as good cardiovascularly unless your heartrate gets up. The only way you will see serious results is to get the heartrate up to 80-90% of your maximum and keep it there for 20 min. Yep that's all ya need. 20 min. But it has to be HARD for you. That may be sprinting for some and walking fast for some. As long as your heart is beating fast and it's VERY hard. At the end you should be sooooooo tired and worn out you feel practically sick. Ya see to overcome and get results you must reach deeper within beyond your physical abilities and push yourself. Or esle you'll never get anywhere. You will burn 86% more calories doing the intense training not only do you burn more DURING the workout but you'll continue to burn AFTER the workout unlike moderate intensity training. Just was giving some advice and my 2 cents. Well my goal weight was 125 and I'm at 130 and quit phen today. I'm working out with weights and eating healthy and cardio and I'm down to a small size 6. I'm taking it natural from here.

I have not walked the last two days

I'm going to walk today..at least 3 miles..
This is a great idea, it really makes me want to walk..

As for rollarblading..I don't think its easy..I think its a greak work out..I may look for mine in the closet..its been years but I may give it a try again..

I got my 2 miles in last night. I have to admit that after missing one night, I wasn't nearly as motivated as I have been. It was harder to get started and harder to keep going. I bought my pedometer today. It keeps track of mileage, steps, and calories. It will be interesting to see how many steps I actually take in a normal day. I recently read that in a study of people who wore pedometers, they tend to burn more calories than people who don't. Almost 700 more calories a day. Because they are more aware of how much they are walking I guess. I hope it works for me!

Hi Tredders and Shedders!! I am so proud of each of you...especially knowing how hard it can be to get going. I am so glad that we are staying positive and doing THIS for ourselves. The encouragement makes all the difference.

I purchased new shoes tonight since my other ones didn't fit properly while walking these past few days. Can't wait to get up - yikes, in six hours from now - and try them out. Since I weigh sooo much I will have to stick with walking as hard, fast and long as I can for now. I don't think my knees and back could take the pounding. But it is easier now that I have lost more than what the BIG bags of dog food weigh (50 pounds). I can't even pick up that big bag.

Take care everyone and keep moving!
    -Sarah

Count me in the tredders and shedders...
I run and walk but I am joining anyways!

yesterday I walked to the track, about 7 min away, ran 4 laps, walked 1, ran 4 walked 1,ran 3, walked one, ran one ... then walked home. my time at the track was 45 min.
When it is this hot ( Texas, it was 90 at 10am) I cant run the whole 45 min like I used to.
Today I will most likely do the cross trainer at the gym. I just like to get out to the track to have a change of scenry.

those of you interested in adding some jogging into your walk routine, try to add one lap in between each walk lap, or evry 2nd or third lap. Or on the treadmill try every 5 min for 2 min increase your speed, or your ramp.
it is good for your intensiy to change, its called interval training, it keeps your heart rate moving. and you will like the results, you will start to really feel the muscles in your legs tone. burn baby burn!

just my 2 cents. I have learned alot in the past 14 mos.

    Kelik,
Congrats on your weight loss! When I
read what you said I thought, WOW, I
must be doing it right, I started walk-
jogging a few months ago and I really
    see a difference. In a 45 min walk I
jog about every 5 to 6 mins. for as
long as I can, catch my breath and start
all over. A dream of mine is too run a
short marathon one day...thanks for the
    info.
Count me in, this sounds great!

    Thumbs up

Well I kept my word..I said I would walk at least three miles last night and I did..I used my treadmil and did 3.02 miles..Wow I could really tell that I had not worked out in a while. Three miles never seemed so long before! I did it in 55 min. I'm not sure how fast you should be able to walk a mile? After I was done I felt sooooo good! I'm really glad I did it.. My legs are a little sore but I will do it again tonight.

This walking club has got me movin!!

    Hello again club!!
I just wanted to check in. I have done 3 miles each day for the past two days. I took off Sun, Mon and Tues this week, but I got in gear Wed. and Thurs. I ate delicious Mexican food on Wed. and I have still managed to lose 2 pounds this week. Keep it up everyone!

Just posting my 2 miles for tonight.

I added up everyone's miles for the week so far. I get 13 miles minus kelik because I don't know how many of your laps equals a mile. Somebody double check because math isn't my strong suit!

Made it tonight girls! I walked 2.5 miles. After not walking for awhile, it was hard for me to get that far. I know I can get back up to three or four miles before long.

Night everyone, have a good week-end.
