Hi everyone!! i finally decided to sign up and post some feedback about phentermine. i have been on this for about 1 1/2 months. i have lost 17 pounds and i am very happy about that , however i get soooo depressed. i dont know if this is one of the side effects, but it seems like i am depressed all the time. has anyone else dealt with this? and by the way how old is everyone? i am only 19 years old. i also noticed another side effect (i think its a side effect) of my hair being more fragile. it seems like it is alway falling out. i am not bald or anything but when i brush it or am taking a shower a lot seems to come out. can someone help me as to if these are sides effects and what i can do to get rid of them ??? any suggestions or advice??

thanks,
LuLu 13

Hey LULU,

I think that the depression part is side effect of phentermine. I know that some doctors prescribe along with phen some type of anti-depressent. I am in my mid 20's I don't think that I have had this side effect. I mean I get moody sometimes, but I think that, I have always been a moody person. If you read back on some of the other post I think you will find that others had this problem. Great job on loosing the 17 1/2 pounds. I hope that this helps you. Sorry I could not help more.

Hi Lulu,

Sorry to hear about your depressed feelings. Specifically, what symptoms of depression are you having?

I feel better than I have in a long time since I started the Phen. I haven't had a single anxiety attack since I started taking it, and I used to have them 3-4x a week.

The hair problem could be due to not getting enough protein. Are you eating meat at all? Hair loss is a big issue for people who lose weight rapidly, especially those who have stomach stapling or other weight loss surgery.

Hi Lulu:
Hair loss is usually more common in women. It is associated with any or all of the following:
rapid loss of significant weight
no vitamins
stress
deficiency in Biotin, selenium
Not eating any veggies..or very low intake.
And, I HOPE your doc can help you with depression too!

Glimmerella,
I have taken my first pill today, and already I feel great. I used to have anxiety attacks all the time too, especially while driving, but I am feeling really good now!

I forgot to ask...
Can you take those vitamins Biotin and the other one WHILE on Phen? I have thin hair as it is, and I don't really need it to get any thinner....
Thanks!

My hair thinned REALLY bad when I was using the phen-fen...my doc said I wasn't eating enough fat. You need at least 15 grams per day, 20 would be better. Also, one friend's doc has put her on one table of 5HTP (natural anti-depressant) with each of her phentermine pills. YOu might try that for your depression. I've taken the 5HTP by itself to help lose weight, but no luck on that. It does take a few days for the 5HTP to kick in, as far as using it to help for the depression.

Hi kerenliz:
I have taken vitamins ever since I started lo carb( Jan '00)/ been on Phen since April '00 with no hair loss at all. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!! There may not be an immediate remedy for hair loss...but over time, it should slow down. Also, hypothyroidism can cause hair loss....a doctor would need to test for it. It isn't a real common condition, but it's another possibility.

Hey everyone!!!! alrighty, i went to the doctor and told him about the demand for phentermine and he put me on Adipex. i have never heard of it or seen it but i hope it works as well if not better!! he also gave me some other medication for some muscle cramps i ve been having in my legs which i am not sure was caused by phentermine or not. he said that adipex is the same thing as phentermine and has the same side effects except that is is way more expensive. if i get depressed like i did with the phentermine he told me to go back and he will perscribe an anti-depressant. so how is everyone else doing???
