water pills

I had to order my phen on line today since my doctor left the country and forgot to tell me!!! My question is...he gives me a water pill to take every other day with my phen...it's called triamterene...the doctors office won't give me any since the doctor is out of town (he won't be back for a month). Does anyone know where I can get any type of water pill to take in it's place???? Thanks!

I take the same water pill. Sorry, I don't know where you can get it on line but, I will ask my doc on Monday what is the closet thing to it that does not require and **. I don't have an appt. until then or I would ask him sooner.

Just curious...what does a water pill do for you? Make you pee even more?

Hi Shortie - I take triameterene as part of my therapy for high blood pressure. It is a prescription drug and not very expensive.

The thing with any diuretic (water pill) is that they can leach potassium from your system. Potassium imbalance can be life threatening. Triameterene happens to be a "potassium sparing" diuretic. If I were you, I would wait for my doctor to come back and not mess around with any other type of diuretic. The water will take care of itself if you drink enough - the way to get rid of excess water is to drink more water!!! Unless you have a medical condition that indicates need for a diuretic, taking one along with the phen just fools you into thinking you are losing faster than you are, because as soon as you stop the diuretic, the water comes right back. Just enjoy your phen, eat right and exercise, and let nature take its course with the water.

Thanks for the replies...to be honest - I am not for sure about the water pill...he said I retain water and to take the water pill every other day...Bpayton...what does your doc say about it? I am just curious...actually Glim...I don't really seem to pee any more than usual - I drink a ton of water anyway...so I am used to spending half of my day in the bathroom!! I ordered my phen on line yesterday at 12:30 - they said overnight delivery and it never showed today...hmmm...I am getting worried. I hope it shows tomorrow - has anyone had a problem with eprescribe before? This is my first experience ordering on line.

I ordered from eprescribe with no problems. I assume the reason you didn't get it today is because you ordered a little late...I'm thinking that their website mentions something about orders being placed before 10am (or somewhere around that time) would probably be processed that day, then shipped overnight. I bet you'll get your package tomorrow...if you don't have it by around lunch, I'd call the customer service number (you should've gotten an e-mail confirmation...I think there's a number on there)
