Hello everyone. I am 20 yrs old and weigh about 247 pd now. I have been in the 200's since I was in middle school and I have tried every diet in the book, even regular exercising and eating right. My best friend,Pete, started taking Phentermine about 6 months ago and looks fabulous! So, I thought I would try it. I have consulted my doctor and she had mentioned this, Meridia, and Xenical. But I heard bad things about the other two. I guess what I am getting to, is that I am so scared and nervous, because what if this doesn't work? I spent hundreds of $$$$ for doctor's visits and now medication...what else do I do to help improve my weight? I go to the gym 3 nights a week the way it is now! I feel like I am destined to be this weight....any comforting help? All my friends are skinny little ladies and don't understand me when I want to cry because of the way I look. Please, anyone, send me some reassuring messages?

I haven't heard any "bad" things on Xenical, Phentermine, nor Meridia; nor have any of them had any "bad" effects on me. Everybody is different and reacts differently to each medicine. I personally don't like Meridia...it doesn't seem to work as well as the Phentermine. But Meridia works very well for others. If you're healthy and the doctor okay's you for any of the above, then you have nothing to lose but weight! Just be sensible and eat right, drinks lots of water, and exercise, exercise, exercise! They all can be harmful if you aren't responsible while using them. Go for it and keep checking in!

It is a hard battle, trust me I know for sure. When I went to the doctor, I weighed in at 220 lbs. I am now at 215. So in a week I lost 5 lbs. I have to say that this is the heaviest I have ever been but even at my lowest I was between 150-160. But for me that was good. You can do this. I am in love with Phen! It has helped me alot. I was really apprehensive at first, but now I am happy I did it. Be patient and go for it girl!

Hang in there. I know it's hard. I was 198 in sept of 99 and started taking phentermine. My primary care is wonderful, and I go in once a month for a weigh in and check up. I'm down to 164. You've just got to take it a day at a time, and when the first 10 come off, it'll push and encourage you. At that point, go get your nails done and have a facial. Do for you!

I recently went to the doctor to find out infomation on how to lose about 10 lbs. I am 5'3 139lb. The doctor prescribed Phentermine 8mg. Do you think it is safe for me to take, since I only need to lose 10 lbs.? The doctor told there are hardly any side effects and that the most common one is dry mouth?

I am only 31 and all my life have weighed about 118, at 5-1 and1/2. After having 2 kids a year and half apart I did the unthinkably and let myself go. At my worst point last October 99 I weighed in at 158. I went on phentermine 15mg from my doctor (your doctor must be pretty lenient because I heard you cant even get them unless your at least 30 lbs overweight). Anyway from October to January I lost 24 lbs. I am now 134 and feel great. I hope to get down to 120-125. From the end of October til now, I did not take the pills everyday, sometimes every other day. I got off the pills in January (that is when I weighed in at 134) and I am going back on at 15 mg to help me with the last 10. My doctor says it might not work the same for me, because its the first 15 lbs that are the hardest to lose. So try it, it might work out perfect for you.
Only problem I had was sometimes (not all the time) I couldnt sleep at night. Clock watcher!!!
