Thread: Should I do a Cleanse??

    Question

I have been taking dexatrim for 2 months now. My friend takes some weight loss stuff from GNC. Works well for her. Anyway..every 3 months she does a 1 week cleans. Sometimes pills but most of the time some liquid. It is suppose to clean your system since your body gets tolernt to drugs. Then when you start again after the cleanse it is like the first time. She has followed this patttern for a year now and lost about 40 lbs. She was small to begin with and looks great now. She doesnt take diet aids now, just enery and vitamins. But still does the cleanse so they will always have a good effect on her. Should I cleanse before my first pill of phentermine? And since we are to take phentermine for 3 months on then take off 2 weeks would a cleanse be good then? She gets hers from GNC. Seems like a good thing to do. Do any of you cleanse? Suggestions?

I do the cleanse by 'Natures Secret' here in Ca. you get it at "Mothers" or Trader Joes"(health food stores) but Im sure you could find it at vitamin stores too. I have actually had a colon irrigation done. It sounds awful but it really just cleans you out and you feel like you can start new. Not to mention the 3 to 5 pounds of cleansing thats done. (the build up can actually be toxic) anyways...try the natures secret program its only 20 to 30 dollars...not bad. Or try the one your friend does.

LOL! Here on the east coast we don't go for them fancy schmancy high colonics you granola heads seem so addicted to
which is probably why we are so anal-retentive! Of course, another part of me is strangely interested in the procedure....

    Chrysa, dear child,

the answer is yes. A cleanse is not only very effective and inexpensive, it really does help how your body reacts to your meds and vitamins. Actually, I'm surprised that physicians don't advise all of their patients that take long-term medication to periodically do this. I would go to my herbal store today and check on which is the best one, but I'll send you since you have all this free worry time on your hands til Phen gets there. Ask them to explain it to you too, they're usually very helpful.

Also, guess what I found out? I went to the herbal store yesterday and asked the clerk what was the highest dosage of B12 they sold. (I wondered because we were just talking about B12 on the board that morning). Well, he checked on the shelf and found out it was 5000 mcg. So I asked him how much higher was the B12 shot you get at the doctor. He didn't know but called a local pharmacy to find out. Well, turns out the shot is 5000 mcg. The shot does work right away, but the store carries the liquid that you put under your tongue and the lozenges that you ****, and he claimed these were both very quick and excellent since he takes the liquid. They also sell a time-release one.

Just thought I'd pass this on for all those looking for that big burst of something on a budget, instead of resorting to Twinkies or crack, both equally affordable.

    Yesitslee,

Thanks for that advice! I agree, I don't know why doctors don't tell you that. I'm on some long term medications to prevent a recurrence of my breast cancer, so I think I definitely need a cleanse. Remember on the Nutty Professor at the dinner table, talking about "cleansing your colon"? That was funny!

I'm going by GNC on the way home from work today!

If it's like an enema, then no, it doesn't hurt. Somehow a "high colonic" sounds a lot more invasive than an enema does!
