Question
I must have the worst Doctor in the world, he is always out of the office.

What I need to know is must I take the water pills and when? And what do they do? He told me to take them Friday and Sunday to start out with. Then every Sunday.

Does that sound right? Also is there a drugstore brand of water pills I can buy, my boyfriend throw out the ones the Doctor gave me. Of course my Doctor is no where to be found.

Thanks
JC

Why did he suggest water pills?

In my experience, when you first start phen AND drink all of your water (64oz) you lose that water weight first. IF you keep up with drinking your water, you shouldn't be retaining. Your body retains water when it's not getting enough. I'm not saying don't do what your doctor told you to do, I'm just curious what the background is.

Question

That sounds really strange to me, because the Phen has a diuretic in it. I took my first pill 5 days ago, and I went "pee' 3 times in an hour! I hadn't even had enough time to drink that much water! I usually don't go that much anyway. I already feel lighter because of the diuretic effect of the phen! Cat

JC -- I do take a water pill with my phen but it's only on an as needed basis and I make that determination. I have a tendancy to retain lots of fluid. I usually take on a Sat. or Sun. because its a given I won't get anything else done. Make certain you take it early enough in the day so that it doesn't disrupt your night's sleep. Hope this helps.

JC i am also confused...I was told never to take a water pill! I do know that it can mess up your eletrolites(sp) and can be very dangerous! If you do decide to take it make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. Are you on any other meds? I would be especially careful if you are! I don't think you need one if you are drinking lots of water and just cut back on intake of sodium maybe...just a thought!

Cool
Diuretics tend to have a rebound effect....meaning once you loose the water you'll tend to retain twice as much because your body interprets the water loss as dehydration. Best bet is to stay away from them.
