Bontril PDM & SR vs Phend

I was doing some research of meds and came across this info on eMedTv. If you are taking the generic Phend SR, you may especially want to read this. I have copied the info and posted it here for you:

"Strengths of Generic Bontril
Generic Bontril PDM tablets come in one strength -- phendimetrazine 35 mg tablets. At this time, no other medications are equivalent to Bontril SR capsules, although there are generic slow-release phendimetrazine capsules with the same active ingredient in the same amount. For slow-release products, special tests must be performed before products are considered to be equivalent. None of the generic slow-release phendimetrazine products have passed these tests.


Is Generic Phendimetrazine as Good as Bontril?
All generic medications must undergo certain tests to compare them to brand-name medications. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) then looks at these tests to decide if the generic versions are equivalent to the brand-name medications, and assigns a rating to each one. An "AA" rating means the FDA has determined that a generic medication is equivalent to a brand-name medication. Currently, generic phendimetrazine tablets have an "AA" rating, meaning they are considered equivalent to Bontril PDM tablets. All slow-release phendimetrazine capsules (including Bontril SR) have "BC" ratings, meaning they have not been shown to be equivalent to the brand-name medication.

Keep in mind that generic medications are allowed to have different inactive ingredients than the brand-name medication. This might include fillers, dyes, or other ingredients, which may cause problems for people with certain allergies or sensitivities."
