Hello my fellow weight loss comrades!
There are a lot of postings about Phentermines and that is great. There are so many people who have lost weight very quickly and in masses. However, there are those of us that have a different side effect or did not lose weight on Phen and had to change. I think it is important for us to share successes also.

I had taken Phen for 4 weeks and it was the longest 4 weeks of my life. My doctor told me that the first few days I was going to feel hyper, gittery, heart palpatations and so forth. But I didn't have those side effects as a matter of fact the first week I wanted to shoot myself and preferred to have the weight. I took the pill at 7am and by 12 I wanted to just pull out a pillow and sleep for about a week. I didn't have energy to exercise and I was thirsty all the time. So I increased the dosage to two 15mg a day and the first couple of days I had increased energy but that quickly faded. I was back to the same position. Oh and let me not forget I am hunger almost every 2-3 hours; even though I didn't eat as much I was still hungry all the time. Mind you a friend of mine started before me and in one month and lost 20 pounds .

Well I went to the doctor last week and explained all of this to my doctor and he told me sometimes Phen just doesn't work for everyone. I did lose 7lbs (I just think this was water and a simple water pill would have done the same thing) . He has put me on Bontril and I took my first pill on friday (yesterday) and the side effects I was looking for in Phen I actually got in Bontril. I am energetic (cant stop doing that bouncing knee thing) and I'm awake! Since my pharmacy ran out of the pills and only had 5 to give me I am going to skip this weekend and start on monday.

So for all of us Bontril users lets get together and share successes. It's important that we support each other no matter what!

Good Luck!

Hi! I have been taking Phendimetrazine (this is teh generic form of Bontril) 70 mg 3x a day since 2/13 and have lost a total of 21 lbs. It's been great for me in that it really suppresses my appetite and cravings and gives me great energy! I live in Tampa and go to Body Image Weight Management Center (Dr. Garcia). I weigh-in every week and am prescribed the Phen-D, fat burners, multivitamin, and get injections of B12, B6, and a combo one that has all sorts of good stuff in it! It's expensive but well worth it! I have been in ketosis (when you deprive the body of carbs so that it only burns off/gets its fuel from stored fat) since starting the program last month. I eat very few calories a day (maybe 700) and only protein (basically just meat and cheese). The multivitamin I am prescribed helps make up for any deficiency in my diet. Feeling & looking great! Jessie

I am also on the phen-d, 35mg, 2 pills 3x/day. I don't take them all, because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did. The initial energy has worn off, and honestly I am exhausted most of the time, so I haven't been able to work out or even walk. I lost 8.4 pounds the first 2 weeks, (sick 1 week of that), but I didn't lose anything week 3. I also get the B-12 shots, multi-vitamin and fat burners. I go to First Impression in Tallahassee. I have my 4th weigh-in tomorrow, and if I haven't lost any weight, I will have to re-evaluate. I really had high hopes for this plan. I think the 500 calorie high-protein diet is what is causing me the problems. I think my body has gone into starvation mode, so it's holding onto all my weight. Anyone heard of this happening?

I am so happy for you two. Keep up the good work.

Hey great job Jessie. How many carbs a day do you take in? My doctor also told me to think about Atkins or weight watchers with this because it cuts the calorie intake and Atkins cuts the carbs. I told him I would think atkins would be hard. So I am thinking about signing up for ediets online. Has anyone tried that? Also Ladybug you are doing great. I can understand the starvation mode and I was told you need at least 1000 calories a day depending on your activities. So if you are working out a lot trying eating more. When I was reading some of the articles I noticed people saying the more they ate the more they lost too. Good luck to the both of you on your journey and please keep posting your results. If you guys have ideas for protein on the go foods you can think of can you please share? Thanks

My protein on the go is beef jerky. It has sodium, but only between 50-80 cals/oz. A bag is usually between 3-3.5 oz. The carbs are usually about 15 grams per bag, so it works on all levels. Since I drink more than a gallon of water a day, I don't worry about the sodium intake. The shake with the lowest carbs is EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control (it's in the silver box). It has a bit of an aftertaste, but it's ok on the whole. I've been drinking that for breakfast.

Well, I have my week 4 weigh-in this afternoon, so I will be deciding whether to stick with this or not. If I don't lose weight, I will do NutriSystem. That is so convenient, and I've spoken with ppl who have lost the weight.

Good luck everyone. Keep up the good work.

I just started Bontril yesterday (105mg in the morning and 35mg phen-d in the late afternoon) and will have no idea how much weight I will have lost until I go in to my next appt in 4 weeks! I don't have a scale and she urged me not to buy one so I won't. I am also on the high protein/low carb diet. I also bought one of the Yoga Booty Ballet dvd's for exercise and walk. I am hoping to lose 50 lbs by Christmas as that would put me at my ideal weight. My clinic gave me a pamphlet that has a list of calories in all kinds of foods and some sample recipes. I am allowed 30 grams of carbs per day OR 1200 calories. I count carbs! I am also going to stop drinking water with sweetener because that can cause hunger. I hope this works out and good luck to everyone!

I am so happy to hear that Phen doesn't work for everyone. From day 1 it did not curb my hunger. It doesn't give me any energy it does nothing for me. I have lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks however I believe this is due to cutting out my pepsi, eating healthy choice and atkins bars, and working out daily.
I go to the doctor on July 3rd and am going to express my concerns. Maybe I should try Bontril too.
Thanks for putting up these comments.
Oh and Silkamatic, atkins has some really good granola bars that have like 48g's of protein. And they taste great as well!
