I've been taking Acomplia since Feb.
Hi,
I posted my Acomplia experience above in a post with my phentermine experience, but for those who are interested, I'll repost about my experience the last four months taking the new diet drug, Acomplia.
Firstly, hello, as I am new here, although certainly not new to the weight loss game. Like most of you, I have tried everything under the sun, sometimes with temporary success and mostly with failure.
Last winter, after a couple of months on Phentermine, I'd lost 28 pounds, but that also included 4-5 mile walks 5-6 days a week. Eventually, I found the effects of the drug diminishing as my body acclimated to it. About that time, the news was awash in stories about this new wonder drug, Acomplia, that was just given approval in Europe. It is the first in a new class of drugs called CB 1 Blockers. Not only is it suppose to work wonders as far as weight loss, but it also lowered triglycerides and improved good cholesterol, as well as lowered insulin resistance. If haven't heard of it and you're interested, here's the site of the press release:

Of course, as per usual the FDA lags way behind on these things, so I had to get a prescription from my US doctor and go through a Canadian pharmacy to get it from the UK. About $150 for 28 pills (you can find several pharmacy sites that charge for an online "consultation" where they'll provide you with a prescription, but that costs about an extra $100). It's not like Phentermine in that it is to be taken indefinitely in order to maintain weight loss.
The first couple of months I lost 15 pounds without much effort, but it was getting expensive and I wondered if I could do better on my own. I then found a site that was selling the generic (rimonabant) for about half of what I was buying the brand name (I dont' believe I can post it, but I'll email it to you if you want to PM me). The good news is that the FDA is supposed to give its blessing later this year, so it should be available in the States, although here it will be called Zimulti instead of Acomplia.
The generic (rimonabant) seems to be working the same as the brand name and I've lost another 8 pounds. Not exactly melting off of me, but it's much better than gaining 8. I'm hoping to be close to my goal by Christmas.
We'll see.
Good luck to all!
