Thumbs up It's Not Just A Diet Challenge
Hi, Phrends!

This is a continuation of the Less of Me for Valentine's Day Challenge. However, we welcome whoever wants to join, (all ages, North, South, East, West, any country or nationality),but ask that you make the committment to stick around for the whole challenge. We are here to be supportive and not critical or confrontational.

This challenge officially begins 2/15/8 and final weigh-in will be 3/28/8. We will focus on long- term life style healthy changes and not just weight loss. Some of us have been doing this for a long time. We know if we have a time when we fall off the wagon, it is important to gain control and get back on as soon as possible. It is OK if you are starting over. Don't be embarrassed, the time is now!

Requirements: Please READ and COMPLY with the following requirements to join.

  1. PM me your beginning weight and a suggestion for a weekly mini-challenge. PM me your updated weigh-in by each Friday evening.
  2. Make an initial post on this thread introducing yourself. Tell us about you and your weight loss journey.
  3. Name one or more new goals you would like to incorporate into your daily life to improve your health.

Would anyone like to volunteer to post a motivational saying each day or at least a couple of times a week? Together we can continue this journey for a lifetime.

To Our health!

My name is Laurie and I am a 38 year old married mom of two from Madison, WI. I was a lurker on your last challenge and its time for me to join you!!! I first started phen in Nov of 06. I lost 40 lbs in five months only to gain back 35 of them. I haven't started back on the phen (I have 30 days of the 37.5 squirreled away) but will be on Monday morning. I do have an endocronologist that I see through my health insurance that prescribes the phen for me. Insurance doesn't pay for the phen but that is cheap so thats fine!

Today I weighed in at 212.5 at home this morning.

Two days ago I joined Anytime Fitness (they just came to the small town I live in south of Madison). So I am very excited about that! I worked out my first day and was so sore I couldn't believe it!! I didn't go yesterday but am about to get off work and head over there.

As for a mini-challenge......How about keeping it simple and staying within your alloted calories for each day in the week?

My goal for this challenge is to lose 22.5 lbs. So 190! I think its doable with the amount I have to lose. :-)

Welcome Laurie! I love your challenge idea.

My name is LeeAnn, I am a 42 y/o SAHM with a 17 y/o daughter and a 10 y/o son. I am the "helper " in out extended family. I take care of all of my Mom's affairs and i help my MIL with her jewelry business. I worked in the cold, cruel world for almost 20 years in various forms of health insurance. Most recently I worked in Medicare. Prior to that I was an LPN/LVN. I have a degree in history. Go figure.

I decided this time to share a little more about me as I'm sure some don't know me well. I'm sure i probably came us with something the old timers don't know about me too.

I have been battling to get this 50 pounds off for almost two years and I'm so close I can feel it! So my goal for this challenge is to get under 138 and stay there. I'm thinking if I can get to 135 I should be able to stay under 138 even at bad times of the month. Goal #2 for this challenge is to do 100 abs at least 6/7 days. Abs is my problem area. I'm not really sure I can fix the loose skin with exercise, but I can try harder!

hello to all my beautiful girlies!!!

i am ssssoooo excited about this challenge, as LZ said, the previous one was a time of trial for me...to see where my strengths and weaknesses were...to learn how to eat in moderation, how to get back on the wagon when i fall!!!

so since this is a 6 week goal i am going to make a goal of a six pound loss...which would be 142. ooohhh, sooo close to the 130s!!! gonna try to kick it up to get there! need to get in the scat and LZ club!! i also will be shortly leaving pa to go to wa right after this challenge ends, and i hate to say it, but want to be more down in wt b4 i see my ex sil...i know she'll say something, she can't help herself.

and i think that CD should be the one with the motivational messages several times a week!! she is great at that. i get some sometimes from a yahoo group i am on, so if they pertain i will put them here.

as to me:

i am a 32 y/o traveling nurse, currently in nw pa, going to wa in april and alaska in july. my bf and all my children, dog and fish come with me. the kids are homeschooled, sort of!! we started traveling last sept...i lost my eldest son, Brock, in june of last year-hence why we started traveling, to kinda get away. it was the day before his 8th bday. no, we don't know what happened, autopsy neg, went to wake him up and he was dead. i have 3 living children...who are wild heathens. yes, we took them all to the cardiologists...they did a ton of testing, can't find anything wrong with any of them, dang it. so i am doing the nurse thing and shoving it all deep down inside where i put all the other bad things that i have seen and done-like coding babies. ick ick ick.

i am not on phen, but am taking cla and lean system 7...not sure how the last is working though. i know cla helps with muscle toning and stuff, so i will probably keep taking it, and will finish the LS7-then maybe switch to something else. i have been trying to get down into the 130s since i started having kids about 9 years ago!

goals for this challenge for me are kinda a continuation of the previous ones that i didn't quite accomplish:
cals-under 1300
fat -<46
sat fat <14
choles <300
na <2400
fiber > 20
protein >50
along with getting 3 serv of fruits and veggies everyday. i really need to work on my water intake too!!! hope we have a weekly challenge for that (wink wink LZ). right now i just want to be healthy, and if that wt is more than i want then that's ok...as long as i am healthy!! i have had high choles since i was 8 y/o, no matter what diet and exercise i did...i also think that i have hypothyroidism, just had labs drawn and gonna talk to the weird doc i saw in NY (long story for those who didn't already read about it!!). i also have chest pain too, occasionally-but u didn't hear me say it!

oh, and when i get to wa state i am gonna start doing bellydancing again!!! more drive to have a firmer body for that!! i soooo love to do it!

welcome oldies and newbies, and remember ladies, we are stronger together than apart.

trauma

oh an LZ, u did great with the title! totally brought it down to what is important in the grand scheme of things!
1/13-152#
waist-37" arm-12"

1/25-150# started cla, lean sys 7
3/18: 141

Exclamation Weekly Challenge
To get us started we will have a two-part challenge for this week.

Set yourself a calorie goal or another defined amount of food you are going to eat each day, such as low carb or whatever. Post your goal. The second part is to make sure you get at least 3 servings of fruit and vegetables each day.

Default I'm in
Hello phrends...I needed a day to compose myself before jumping in. I had a really bad, dark, fat day yesterday and I pretty much ate junk all day (pretzels, crackers, chips, frozen pizza, cookies). For those of you that know me, that is very strange because I am a foodie and a wine snob and I rarely eat crap like that. Not only was I out of phen, I think I was subconsciously gearing up for what I want to do with this challenge...in that I was stuffing myself to remind me why I hate eating like that, and feeling like that. And it worked. I am so ready to shake off the events of the last few days (shortened or absent workouts, copius amounts of wine, etc) and start anew. I have come way too far to slip up. I'll be off phen until next Tuesday, after I go to the fat doc Monday.

After a good night's sleep, I've decided to loosely South Beach it like I was doing pretty religiously during my most successful months during this journey. Here's my plan:
  • Concentrate meals on lean proteins and veggies
  • Calories 1200-1400 a day
  • Rid pantries (work and home) of chips and crackers (even though they are the All Bran kind with 5g of fiber, I have no control once I get started and will eat 1/2 a box)
  • Burn 3500 cals a week, mostly through cardio
  • Drink lots more water, esp in the evening when I usually drink wine
  • Limit wine nights to 2 a week, and no more than 3 glasses
  • Take my vitamins and supplements everyday

I am staying home today to get caught up on housework and such. I'm really planning a huge power cleaning day so if I don't feel I've burned enough cals I'll go to the Y later.

Cliffnotes about me: I am turning 38 next month, am married with an 18 year old stepdaughter and 2 dogs, and we live on Chicago's northwest side. I own an antique store.

Sorry I couldn't be more warm and silly today, I'm just trying to gear up for Nazi mode. I know 10 pounds sounds like a lot for this challenge, but it's really more like 5 pounds because I was 170 a few days ago...water issues, etc.

Have a skinny day.

Hi girls.. I am in too. Really busy these last few days with the inlaws here and being laid off from my job - hence, not staring at the computer every minute to chime into our dicussions.

My life is not my own until my houseguests leave (Sunday) and Monday I can start to realize how things will have changed for me and come up with a good plan or attack and/or schedule to follow.

Good news.. saw 140 this morning consistently on the scale in and out of the shower. I have been doing well with food choices these last few days and hope I can continue the trend.

Catch you all back early next week.. until then, skinny thoughts and good choices..

OH... 40 years old, been losing and staying healthy since May of last year. I have 2 young daughters and live in So Cal. Until early this week I was gainfully employed with a live-in nanny... now, I think I am a housewife and mom.. not sure where I stand. This should be an interesting few months for me.

Okay I'm back..first my boring bio:'

I turned 41 years YOUNG today..that's right. It is my birthday, which more or less turns out to be just like any other day. I'm a mom to two boys....Okay, that's about as personal as I"m gonna get on here......As far as my weight loss journey goes I was always a skinny kid and adolescent (although I always had hips and boobs as a teen and was not a "waif"). I never ate healthy, although my mom always bought fruit and vegetables for us there was always a steady supply of chips, ring dings, twinkies, etc. Since I didn't have a weight problem it wasn't an issue. I had a difficult childhood and adolescence which came to a head in college..that is when I started binging to feel better. My weight would go up and down after that. Looking back now I definitely had bulimic tendencies but since I didn't purge I never thought I had a problem. With each of my pregnancies I gained weight, way too much for my small frame.....again, my weight has gone down and up over the years, I really want to get healthy and get to a good weight and STAY THERE. The roller coaster ride is getting old. I want to have a healthy relationship with food and not turn to it because of emotions, then starve myself out of guilt......

That being said my goals for this challenge:

Eat low carbs...not Atkins but just eat less carbs like bread and more healthy proteins.
Get to a nice even 130 lbs...gain muscle at the same time.

That is my story and those are my goals.....
