Thumbs up Spare Tire's Challenge (2weeks)
Hi Phensters,

This is the new "Spare Tire" challenge. In this challenge we are going to try to loose belly fat and build up muscles in this area. You´ll see it’s listed in this forum’s brand new calendar feature. Everybody is welcome to join.

Before you start I suggest you measure your waist. Then, from Wednesday 5th September, for the following two weeks we are going to do a specific daily exercise to trim up our figures.

For this easy exercise you will need a full 5 liter water bottle and a table. Here’s how to do it:

1. Put the bottle on the edge of table and stand with your back to it with your hands at the same level as the bottle.

2. Turn to the left by swiveling your hips only. Your feet should not move. Pick up the bottle with both hands and slowly bring the bottle all the way around in front of your body, swiveling to the right to finally place the bottle back on the table.

3. Turn again to the left and pick up the bottle, slowly bring the bottle in front of you, turning to the right and put the bottle back onto the table. Repeat this action for 3 minutes.

4. Now relax. Slowly stretch your arms above your head and then stretch them down to your feet. Repeat 5 times.

5. Repeat stages 2 – 3 but in the opposite direction. i.e pick the bottle up by swiveling to your right and then replace it on the table by bringing it in front of you and turning to the left. Repeat the action for 3 minutes.

Please make sure that all your actions are slow and smooth whilst doing this exercise to avoid hurting yourself.

Please post your progress!
Susanne.

Cool Challenge starting today!
Good morning!

Well, I'm a little bit disappointed because I thought that somebody would like to join this challenge and motivate each other doing this easy exercise. Although, I do not really need to loose any more weight at the moment, as my weight has stabilized, I do need to trim up my figure and tone up my belly.

I'm going to start tonight when I get back home, so wish me luck!

Susanne.

Hi Susanne,

I´m not very active in these forums. Tend to lurk more than post but I´m up for your challenge. I guess I missed yesterday but I´ll start tonight when I get home from work. I´m off on holiday in a few weeks so this might help me feel better about having to don a swimsuit!

Lets keep each other posted on how well we stick to it ok?

Default Welcome
Hi BubBub and welcomed to this challenge!!

First of all, I measured myself yesterday night and I was 79cm arround my waist line. Then, I started the workout with the bottle of water and felt my arm muscles working and my tummy muscles too. Felt good, as I'm not used to doing any exercise...

As I'm writing this, I'm realizing that it's been a long time since I last weighed in, so I'm going to do it tonight and update my profile too.

See you tomorrow!
Susanne.

Hi! Even though I am hosting another challenge, there's no reason I can't do this too. I am always looking for ways to tone up my middle. I tried a few pilates classes at the YMCA but they offer them at inconvenient times, so I just do the moves I learned there on my own.

This slow, diliberate "torso twist" sounds very effective. For my start measurement(s), my high waist (natural waist where you'd never wear your pants ) is 31.5 inches (80cm) and my low waist (near belly button) is 36.5 inches (92cm).

I guess in the US we'll use a gallon bottle if we can't find one a bit bigger. 5 liters is about 1.3 gallons.
5'9 1/2"

172 1/1/08
GW - 160

"It's not just a diet" challenge:
SW 175.0 2/15/08
171, 2/22/08
?, 2/29/08 (vacation/weird tummy thing)

GW 165 end of challenge

Default Welcome Resmoo!
Thank you for reminding me about the different measurement units in different parts of the world. Sometimes, as we are so near through Internet I forgot that we are physically quite far and our cultures have some differences like this.

Well, to make it easily for everybody, I'm going to make a table to show our progress
