I'm right there with you ladies.....just keep remembering that we are doing this for ourselves, not others. Sure the compliments are nice and while they solidify what we are doing, ultimately we are doing it for ourselves.....

Keep up the good work!

Hehe, Bumbles, well we know clothing sizes are all crazy but I would say that 60% of my clothes are an 8/M right now with about 20% a size 10/L and 20% a size 6/S.

Argh, the 10 lbs thing- so good when we gain yet so frustrating when trying to lose. I know I didn't notice anything after losing 10 lbs really but when I was down 15- EVERYONE began noticing. Funny what a difference those little 5 lbs make for us...

Oh and don't get me started on all my petite friends out there complaining about clothes being too long for them! haha. I love it that a lot of designer denim (Rock & Republic, etc.) has inseams of 36-38 inches! I only have to take them up about 2 inches or so but a lot of my friends take them up 8-10 inches! That's practically a pair of shorts! haha. I get my giggles but hey, they are well deserved after growing up wearing very unsexy men's jeans/khakis because they were the only things long enough!

Oh and you ladies might want to check out Alloy.com for jeans and pants- some of the styles are definitely "juniors-esqe" but they do carry a lot of normal washes etc. Their inseams go up to 37" on most styles and their sizes go up to 25. Not too bad a price either- they usually top out at $42.50 and they frequently have a ton of sales. Its a good place to get "transitional jeans" for cheap when losing weight. Oh but they are juniors sizes remember so a size 10 is about an 11 there.

Yes, shopping for clothes is definitely an experience.
My favorite store to buy pants is TallGirl Shops (Resmoo there is one in downtown Chicago if u didn't know). They are a little expensive, but the pants fit soooo well. I'm really upset because I just moved to Marietta, GA and there is no TallGirl here so now I have to do research all over again to find sumplace...*sigh*....
I too have to add my complaints about petite people. I have alot of friends who are 5'5 and under and sometimes I just want to karate chop them for complaining about "how long these pants are" and "I can't find anything to wear..." WTF???!!! I WISH I could just walk into a store and be able go through the ENTIRE selection to find a pair I like. If it doesn't say "Long", I'm not getting it. And now I've realized that some places say "Long" but the length is really only like a 33 or 34, which is still too short for me. Argggh!! Any 1 have big feet on here too? I usually have to pick my jeans, then find the shoes, THEN find a shirt to match. Lol.

I've been to TallGirl a couple of times, but I never really found anything that fit me that well. All my weight is in my hips, and their clothes seemed to be cut more for athletic builds. But I way so happy they existed. I always thought I'd like them more if I was thinner.

I hear you on tall size inseams too. Some of them are 32! WTF? Have you MET anyone tall? While I'm only 5'9.5, I have long legs and arms and a short body.

My stepdaughters are 6'2" and 6'0", and one has long legs/short body and the other has short legs/long body. We're all between a 14 and a 20 and still manage to share clothes sometimes anyway.

Yes, some of Tall Girls clothes are for slimmer women, and that I am definitely not (lol). But I had a friend that used to work there and she said that they carry alot of different brands, so one brand might fit better than the next. I usually wear a 14/15, and some of them from Tall Girl i couldn't even slide over my hips (and I'm the type of person that is not gettin the bigger size, I just won't get them at all. haha.) but some of the jeans were loose.
Maaaan, I don't even know where to begin looking for jeans here in Atlanta. I tried Jc Penny, and I didn't even see any there. I guess you have to order them now, but I like to try on my jeans before I buy them.

Sometimes Old Navy has long sizes, and long plus sizes, but their inseams vary a lot. I have one pair on right now (20WT) that is probably just shy of 33 - so i have to wear my uggs, nothing with a heel. I had another pair, in thinner days, that was a 16 tall, and they were so long I had to give them to my stepdaughter (the 6'2" one). She was thrilled - her inseam is 35-36, depending on cut and what not.

I have a cousin that lives in Marietta.

Yeah, Old Navy Jeans don't really work for me. I might be able to fit them when I buy them, but after one wash they are too short. My length is about a 35-36 so that they cover my heels, but I loved that Tall Girl had 37", even though they were too long, all I had to do was roll them under or hem them. Is ur cousin in Marietta a tall woman? Also Resmoo, I see u lost 15lbs so far.. that's awesome! Does anyone notice a difference yet?

Hey Tallnlovely,

I live in the ATL too! I usually get my jeans from the Gap. They carry tall sizes with 36 inseams. I usually get a 34 and that fits perfectly. I also buy some pants from New York. I don't want to pay too much until I am at the size that I want to be. New York also has tall sizes.

Bumbles, I didn't know Gap had talls. I quit shopping there years ago when their biggest size was 14. Someone told me they go up to 20s now, but just online. Heaven forbid they let the fatties roam their retail space.

BTW, I see your goals as very aggressive. I know we big girls lose weight faster, but weight loss does slow down and I'd hate to see you set yourself up to be disappointed. I'm starting to think I should set more conservative goals and then be over the moon when I surpass them.

Tallnlovely, thanks for noticing the loss. No one has noticed yet, except my husband (and I really think he's just being encouraging, bless his heart). But I'm noticing, as I'm now down a size in my own wardrobe. Most of my 20's are too loose.

And no, My Marietta cousin didn't get the tall gene.

New topic: Did you, or do you still have Height Minimum rules for dating? I was so adamant about the guy being taller. Actually that was not as big an issue when I was thin. When I was thin, I didn't have the matronly feel that made me want to date a big guy to feel more sexy. I discussed this with my lesbian friend who is my height and weight. She used to date men when she was younger, and had the height rule. She says she doesn't miss that insecurity one bit!

Funny thing is I wear a size 8 already and my weight is high. I guess that I have alot of muscle mass from working out so long over 15 years. Resmoo, I figure, that if I am not at my target weight on the date above, I'll simply reflect where I currently am at the time. I put down those goals but I also see the big picture. So I eat healthy, pop my pill and exercise while holding a imagine of myself at my perfect weight in my mind.

My BF is 6'2". I love tall men. I dated a guy who was an inch shorter than myself. He absoulutely hated it when I wore heels (from 1 inch to 3 inches). I felt self-conscious about the whole thing and started to kind of stoop when we walked together. The only sandal (it was summer) that I wore around him were flat to the ground, which hurt my arches. I broke it off, too stressful and I knew that I was not really interested in him because he was shorter than me. I was trying to talk myself into accepting short men as dates.

Hey girls!
I haven't tried Gap jeans in a while, but I'll have to check them out. New York and Co pants don't work for me either, they end up being too short, which is too bad because I really like the style of that store.
Hi Bumbles! Atl represent!
I HAVE to date a tall guy. If he isn't at least my height, I'm not even gonna look at him. I like my guys 6'3 and up, tall dark and handsome . My current guy friend is 6'8", and plays basketball. I LOVE being able to wear heels and still be shorter than him. I someone taller than me too because I like aggression, and I like someone who makes me feel protected. When I was a freshman in high school, there was this cute guy that was maybe 5'5" that liked me, and I kept telling him no because I was 5'10" at the time. But he was very persistent and nice, so I decided to give him a chance. Yeah, that lasted about a week. Lol. I felt like I was dating my little brother or something. And then he used to want to walk down the hall together and kiss, which meant I had to BEND OVER to do that. OOOOH, no. That was kinda embarassing to me and after that experience, I never dated a short guy again! But to each its own!

Resmoo you are so funny. I have been cracking up on all of your posts as I can relate to them- I am 5'8.5 and I complain about the material they give for us tall women all the time when shopping for pants. I also have a curvy figure so I have hips that add to the length. You can get all the cute little jeans for cheap in NJ but they are not made for tall people and I be so upset. I have to go to Ny&Co for all my work pants and some of the jeans but they are so basic....

Thanks, MsDanielle. I'm just brutally honest. There' a rant about muffin top/camel toe pants somewhere on these boards that I wrote and I cracked myself up, I must admit.

Is NY&Co a division of Jones New York?

tallnlovely, my husband is 6'8 3/4"! He's an old **** now, and I keep telling him he's shrunk to 6'8" and he gets all puffy about it. Hilare. When we were first dating, my "meet the family" date was his daughter's wedding (talk about pressure). I felt short for the first
