How long before I can take Phen again after the 1st 3 months?

I have read that most Docs will only prescribe Phentermine for 3 months. But I'm sure there are those that might want it longer or might want it again after a break. Question is.. How long between times before a Doc will prescribed it again? Has anyone ever been able to take it longer than the 3 months?
I would appreciate anyone that know. Thanks!

My old bariatric doc said that once you are the BMI you need to be to get it (I think 28 or 30 maybe? I'm not sure) then he would allow you to take it forevermore, even after reaching your goal weight. SO he would prescribe it forever if you wanted it. That was 3-4 years ago, so I am not sure if things have changed maybe...
THe doc I currently am seeing will prescribe 3months for sure, and sometimes 6 months, but only if you are losing, so I am planning to lose! Because I want to stay on longer!! MY BFF lost about 60 pounds on phen 2 years ago, and she was on it for almost exactly a year. She has kept it all off too!! :)

I'm also from TN and my doc will prescribe for 6 months. Well, it could be because I had 80 lbs to lose so she knows it will take some time. But she said she would prescribe to me for 6 months and then "we will go from there". I don't know where you live, but PM me if you want and I can give you some information.

I know it depends on how much weight you need to lose , my doc will prescibe it for as long as i need to reach a healthy weight range for my height. It also depends on any problems you may have along the way, as long as you go to your check up's and your getting a good reponse.

Hi my dr said i cant stay on it for 4mo then 1 mo break from it.. then he will give it to me for another 4 mo! best of luck on your weightloss journey =)
