Hi to all
I am in need of advice on my calorie intake, I have been counting my carbs.
I have always heard the Diabetic Diet is great to follow. Any advice would be appreciated. What is everyone eating. I have noticed I don't want much to eat. Been on pills 4 days.
Get this, my weight loss dr. wanted me to Not eat breakfast, only a small salad or apple for lunch and then 4 oz of protein and veggies for dinner for the 1st two wks. Plus lots of water. Then I go bk for weigh in and more pills.....took first pill 3-16-10..taking Phen 30mg (black caps). Next weigh in
3-29-10. I couldn't follow his advice, felt like was starving myself.
Love reading about everyones ups and downs.....it really does help.
Good luck to everyone and hope to hear lots of advice :)

I've been shooting for "in the 1200's on days I do not work out and "in the 1400's" on days that I do. I also have one day a week where I can eat up to 1700 cals.
Right now, my most frequently consumed foods are:
3 eggs over easy and grits (310 cals)
Hummus and triskets (200 cals)
Oatmeal (140 cals)
Ham, cheese, carrot shreds and spinach leaf wraps (230 cals)
Loads of fruit (plums, nectarines, kiwi, tangerines, strawberries, etc.)
Alternative Bagel and cream cheese (155 cals.)
Yogurt and granola (85 cals)
Cottage cheese (120 cals)
Fiber One bars (140 cals)
Pretzels - (100 cals)
For dinner, I eat whatever my family eats, just smaller portions:
Whole wheat spaghetti, sauce and garlic bread (390 cals)
Zatarains Cheesy Jambalaya (500 cals)
Whole grain tacos and spanish rice (425 cals)
Crockpot salsa chicken with rice (490 cals)
etc.
On past diets, I have bought loads of fat free or light items such as mayonaisse, sour cream, cream cheese, yogurts, etc. This time, I am eating the full fat versions, just less of them and it's been much more satisfying.
Hope this helps! Everyone is different and you may need to play around with it until you find the right combo.
BTW, can't believe your doctor suggested skipping breakfast!! That seems totally assinine in my opinion!

hi! I was just at my doc today for my 1st weigh in & i asked her about the calories because i haven't been hungry at all & i was wondering if not eating was stalling my weight loss. I've lost 7lbs in 3 weeks. Her advice was not to go under 1500 calories a day. She said anything too much under that & the body goes into starvation mode. She said the lowest she would recomend is 1250-1300 a day but she says some people just can't handle that. She said it is better to eat several small meals/snacks a day & drink lots of water also up the excersise. Hope this helps some!

also there is a great website www.freedieting.com & it has a daily intake calorie where you put in your weight, age, height & activity level & it calculates how many cals you should eat to lose or maintain weight. also had other handy little calculators.
