Hi! My name is Tina. I started Phentermine 30mg on 2-27-10. My starting weight was 203lbs. I'm 5'3. Today 3-16-10 my weight is 196lbs. I have lost 7lbs in 18 days. I really feel like I should be losing more or at least should have lost 10-12lbs by now. Is this a slow process? I am eating way less, 1 or 2 meals a day. I just have no appetite. i would think I should be losing more weight just from the fact of barely eating. I haven't started a workout routine yet. Sadly I am fairly unactive at the moment. I'm a stay at home mom. I plan to start walking 30 min a day on the treadmill. My first doctor weigh in is this friday. Any advice for me? Why am I not losing more? Thanks for listening!

I totally understand where you are at...I started phentermine March 2009. I so far have lost a total of 37lbs. however, we had a very rough winter and were stuck inside alot . I have been in a slump ever since... I gained back 6 lbs. and haven't been able to lose it or stay motivated. Every person is different in their weight loss. It has been a slow loss for me but only recently did I stop losing and I am working hard at getting remotivated by exercising and eating healthier. Alot of my eating is emotional and that is a life time battle for me...Anyway, hang in there and remember that even if it is a slow weight loss you are losing and heading the right direction... It is a daily battle so don't beat yourself up..Be proud of yourself that you are doing it!!!

Good luck

Hi,

It can be a slow process for some of us to lose weight and it all depends on your metabolism. When you mentioned you are only eating 1-2 meals a day that concerns me. I have read that if you do not feed your body enough nutrients, it will begin to slow down in order to stop itself from losing weight too fast. It's called starvation mode. You can google this on the internet and get a lot of interesting facts about how our bodies will eventually shut down if we do not feed it enough. Most of us are eating around 1200 calories a day, at least 3 meals with snacks in between. At first I was only eating around 900 and once I upped my calories, I noticed a more significant steady loss.

Make sure you are eating healthy foods. Proteins need to be part of your meals as they will stop you from losing muscle. Try and eat low fat and fresh foods.

I think exercising eventually has to become part of your program. Even walking is suffice to get the muscles moving and the body burning fat.

Are you drinking lots and lots of water...like 100 ounces at least? I wasn't drinking enough water and once I increased it, again, the weight began to come off steady (although slow). I read that the water keeps the muscle hydrated as well as the liver which allows the fat to be flushed.

I hope this helps. Again, I think your biggest issue might be the lack of food, even though you are not hungry. Force yourself to eat something to get your calories in.

I have been dieting since October 10, 2009. I had lost 34 pounds just counting calories. I started Phen on March 2 and have lost 7 pounds. That is a lot considering I had already been dieting.

I totally agree with Kelliee. I had been eating 2000 without the phen and am having to force myself to eat 12-1500 calories a day. But it is important to eat that many. Also, like she said, you have to eat lots of little meals. Your metabolism will really kick start if you eat 4-6 small meals a day. Here is my calorie breakdown:

Breakfast 2-300
Lunch 250-350
Snack under 200
Dinner 4-500.

I drink a TON a every day. I also have upped my exercise. How can you not? The Phen makes me barely able to sit down. Get out there and exercise.

I am a stay at home mom too. I know sometimes it is hard to break away from your day to do what you need for your body. But it is a great example to the kids. I talked to my daughter about my dieting and she is proud of me and wants to get out there and run around with me.

So up the calories, up the exercise and feel good about those 7 pounds. With Phen you are to expect to lose 1% of your body weight a week. So you are right on track...just step it up with increasing the calories, water intake, and exercise.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your support & responses. All such great advice! I need to start drinking tons of water. I had started in the begining then some reason got out of the habit. I'm going to also try a 1200 calorie a day diet & hopefully that helps. I really need to get an excersise routine going, I used to go to the gym & loved working out & now it is just so hard to get motivated. I am thankful though for all the people here & their inspiring words!! I am not alone thank you. My biggest problem would have to be lack of energy. My doc wanted me to try phen for the weight loss & energy boost & i have not had the energy boost at all :( Not sure why. I've been struggling w/ fatigue for about a year now. I have seen 6 different docs & they have tried anti depressants, different diets, all sorts of meds & now phen. I am also hypothyroid. Not sure if that is a part of the problem, I was diagnosed w/ it last June & according to my blood work my levels are now normal but it hasn't helped w/ the weight loss.

Hi Tina
Keep a postive additude, your weight is going down! I will have to agree with other post, you need to consume more calories and lots of water. Look up the diabetic diet it is suppose to be the best to follow. I am going to take a look at it this week. I will share whatever info I find with you. Keep up the good work, I know it is hard but it will be worth all the hard work.
