Oh and for those of you not familiar with shiritake noodles they are an asian
noodle made from the konjac root and they have no calories, no fat and
less than one carb per serving which is all fiber. You can do all sorts of things
with them and get filled up with out the added calories and carbs.
I made chicken noodle soup with them today.

Yes Shiratake noodles are a staple in my house... they are no calories
and no carbs and 100% fiber... I have made lasagna, spaghetti, rice ,breakfast
cereal and even blend them in to quiches to cut back calories... I also have it in
powder form and that can be made in to puddings or for thickening stews... it has 10 times the thickening power of corn starch...
I usually buy them at konjacfoods or the asian grocer

I do not eat the ones made with tofu.. they have calories and carbs

I bought a bag of these a while back and stuck them in my basement fridge...forgot about them! There is not an expiration date stamped on the bag, I wonder how long they stay good?

Well I think the plain yam noodles (original shiratake) stay good just on the shelf (out of the fridge) for a year. So if it has been in the fridge it might even be longer.... just remember they have a slight fishy smell when you first open the bag.. this is normal.. just throw in a mesh strainer and rinse..

thank you for this post. I've been wanting some spaghetti but avoiding it because of the carbs. I feel like crap after a carb meal so it's not worth it to me to even eat a little.

Definitely going to buy these.

These guys have the best prices
http://www.konjacfoods.com/order/

These guys are slightly more but have a couple different varieties than
the first site
http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/category/shirataki-noodles

I have had most varieties.. the only ones I avoid are the ones with tofu because the carbs
are higher and I try not to eat soy and the ones with seaweed in them.. they just
aren't as good as the regular ones
