I've been using phentermine for at least 2 1/2-3 weeks and I have been inlcuding diet and excersise. The phentermine definately decreases my appettite so I have not been eating very much however I haven't seen a weight decrease, even 1 pound.. I'm getting discouraged.. How long does it take to work? I am 5'1 and weight 140lbs.. Goal weight is 120. Help?

When did you notice that phentermine actaully started curbing your appetite?
I started taking it at 30mg last month and it never seemed to kick in as far as appetite supressant. Although I have been under some serious stress! You just wouldn't believe~! I have noticed however, that when I am stresses out that I turn to food and not the healthy food. All Fattening and heavy foods.
I would like to know more about when it starts to kick in.
I use to drink tons of water but then I watered myself out. What are do you think about that benefiber stuff that you can pour into your water? Has anyone tried it?
I have been taking Fiber Con pills everyday and from what I have read it is suppose to make you feel full but...I am not seeing it happeneing with me. Though I am trying to keep in mind that I am stress eating.
Any help out there?

I started Phentermine on July 17th, 2009, and the very first day that I took the pills I started to feel them working. The first day, I took the pill at 7am, ate a small breakfast an hour later and went to work. It was a busy day (I'm a nanny, the kids keep me busy!!) and at 3PM I realized that I had not eaten any lunch or had any snacks. Normally, I would have eaten breakfast, and by 9-10am I would be hungry again. On day 2 I started to experience some side effects.. dry mouth and sore jaw/gums. I think how long it will take to kick in will definitely vary from person to person, but I would think that in 2-3 weeks you should be noticing a difference. I've heard that this drug simply does not work for some people, and you may be one of those people. If you are not experiencing any of the good side-effects of taking this drug (ie low apetite, energy boost, etc) there is really no reason for you to be taking it. I would suggest speaking with your doctor about this, as he/she will obviously have more imput than I have. It may be that for some people it DOES take that long to start working, or that your doctor is comfortable tweaking your dose a bit to see if a different dose would work for you. Good luck!!!

I have heard that if u dont have as much weight to lose as others it can be a slower loss....also u want to make sure ur eating enough calories needed for ur body.....and drinking plenty of water!!!! and just remember even tho ur not seeing the scale moving much u may be losing more inches.....so I would measure urself also and keep an eye on that!!!! I no alot of people lost lots of inches on here even when the scale wasnt moving to much!!! Just a thought!!!!! Just hang in there and hopefully u will start seeing some great results.....if not I would for sure talk to ur dr about it!!!!! are u take the 37.5 DOSE? Taz

I take the 30mg dose and it has worked since day 1 for me. I take mine no later than 6am, though. I usually eat a high protein breakfast (2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon) so I will have the right kind of fuel in my body for energy and fat burning. I eat an apple, banana or grapes mid morning. I usually eat just about anything I want for lunch without starches. If I am hungry before supper I eat another piece of fruit. For supper I have been having salads or some type of grilled meat. I am also walking each night. I drink way more water now than ever because it helps with the dry mouth. You could be eating too much or not enough. If you still don't feel the effect of decreased appetite ask your dr. for something else. Good luck to you!
**I just reread your post....sounds like you may not be eating enough. I have days where I don't eat enough and will not lose an ounce. I just bump up my eating and it drops back down.

Hi ! Mommyof4....i hope this posts right!
I take 30mg phen and 10 mg of prozac....weight doc said its a good combo if you stress eat.I thought i would give it a try since straight phen only lasted the first month when I tried it before. This combo works great!!!! especially in the evening...i could care less about munching!!! I love love love it! I looked into the side effects of the combo, but its really a low dose of prozac,so i'm not worried. Doc said it helps with the extra cortisol that happens when we are stressed. And i sleep great with no racey heart or jitters( i even have a mug of coffee a day!) well i hope this helps you or anyone else out there in Phenland! Good luck!!!
