Hello everyone, I haven't been on here in 2 years! I can't believe it. I was on here all of the time and got wonderful support and now I'm back.
If of all, can anyone let me know how to change my info under the Avatar? LOL This site has changed so much in the last 2 years, I can't find anything.
Secondly, I've moved from Florida, back to St. Louis, MO and I was wondering if anyone knew of doctors in the St. Louis or St. Charles/St. Peters/O'Fallon areas that would prescribe Phen....without the 3rd degree!
I have been going to a weightloss clinic in St. Charles, but this place makes you go every 2 weeks, and will only give you a script one month at a time. They are all nice over there, but the doctor prescribing is very old and old school and he's rather sick I think. Since April they have had to cancel on me about 3-4 times for the doctor being out sick. And it took a month to get in there because he was out sick for so long and then they forgot to call me back for an appointment.
It's getting very difficult to go every other week with the cost ($25.00 per visit through my insurance), which is $50 per month on top of the cost of it. Not to mention they are only there for that doctor on wednesdays and thursdays from 1-5pm....which means I have to take a late lunch or go right after work. Sometimes when I go after work, I've had to sit there for over an hour waiting to be seen and I had an appointment. It's not convenient at all and sitting there for that long makes me mad. And then having to weigh in each time in the afternoon, after I've already had breakfast and lunch, really upsets me, b/c you are always heavier later in the day and I like weighing 1st thing in the morning. AND, every other time I'm there, I'm on my period, so I'm bloated. Whose bright idea set up that plan of action?
So I'm looking for a regular doctor. I have a PCP, but he is my parents doctor and I don't really care for him and don't think he's going to prescribe it to me. I've hinted to him about it and he ignores it.
I had GREAT success on this 2-3 years ago. I've had some VERY difficult struggles over the last year and a half after moving back to St. Louis that weightloss and weight maintance had to go on the back burner. But I DID reach my goal of 155 and I looked and felt wonderful! I'm very upset that I put the weight back on, but it was my fault, no one to blame and like I said, too many life struggles to worry about regular exercise and eating right.
I lost my job at a very large bank in SW Florida that I worked at for 3 years and had worked my way up the ladder to a great salary and management. They laid off 12 people in one day and I was #1. I was able to find another job 2 weeks later, with a $20,000 pay cut. That was April of 2007. In August 2007, on my then boyfriend and mines anniversary, his mother tried to commit suicide. We were called while in a movie and had to rush to the hospital. The very next day, my father had a heart attack. He was in St. Louis and I couldn't go to him. He DID survive and he's doing ok (more happened later). I lost my job again in Sept of 2007. (I'm in the mortgage business and have been for 13 years and I think everyone knows what happened in Florida-the world-though how was any of us supposed to know what was happening when it started or how it would turn out and how long it would last) Mortgage businesses were closing there doors left and right and my boyfriend and I saw it coming and new we had to get out of SW Florida. We needed to go where we could get good jobs. He was able to sell his house, but I couldn't get mine sold, so I did a lease option with a lady and we left in Oct 2007.
We moved back to St. Louis and things only got worse. We were staying for free in a one bed, one bath apartment/condo that one of my brothers owned. And I had a dog at the time too. It took a long time to find jobs, but we both found good jobs and started them at the beginning of Jan 2008. I started having some health problems in Nov of 2007, but I thought it was stress related as it stopped after we found jobs. It started again right after I started my job. To make a long story short here, 3 months later I was Dx with Crohn's. That's been the biggest battle of my life! In March of 2008 we bought a house. Too many issues living in that apartment of my brothers...too many fights I won't go into. In May 2008 my boyfriend finally proposed after 3 years together. In June 2008, my my had a heart attack and I was standing in the hospital room with her talking about wedding dresses when she almost died as they were calling a Code Blue and pushing me out of the way. In July 2008 ( a few weeks later) my dog died. I had her for 14 years, since she was 6 weeks old. She moved 6 times with me from St. Louis to Florida and back again. I was heart broken!!! In Oct 2008 I married, honeymoon in Nov and a visit to Florida, then Xmas, then the New Year, then my Birthday in Jan 2009 and my father having to have a pacemaker installed on my birthday. March 2009 a week hospital stay from the Crohn's, now they are thinking it's more Ulcerative Colitis. A history of headaches that turned into Migraines a year ago (gee I wonder why??) My mom's constant string of health issues and she was in the hospital every other month thinking she was dying. My dad's health issues and when she wasn't in the hospital, he was and she was just worrying herself sick about it.
Do you get the picture and why taking care of myself went on the back burner? I hate to say that I regret moving back. But I can't help to think that all of my health issues started when I moved back. Not to mention I'm having problems with my Asthma again and all of my Allergies. I didn't have any problems with that after I moved to Florida and was able to stop all of my meds.
But now things are starting to calm down and it's time I focused on me again and I NEED to get healthy. I need my mind and body health to fight this Disease! And Phen/Adipex helped me immensely. But with all of my other doctor visits for the Chiropractor (who is helping me with my neck and the headaches as meds didn't work) or the GI Specialist at $40 each visit, I would really like to find a doctor that I can see even just once a month or every other month, not every other week!
So THANK YOU for reading my story and I'm glad to be pack on here b/c the support was always so amazing. Any help or advise anyone can give, I'm all ears!! And eyes ;-)
Thanks
Stef
