Today is day 17 with Phen. As of last night I have lost 14 pounds. Not only that--when I started, I was wearing a 16 easy, and this morning I am wearing a skirt I bought last year that is a size 12! WoOt! I only wore it once last year because I could barely zip it and it was so uncomfortable that I thought it was going to split me in half.

I spent the past four days with my mom at a folk art festival. She is the "Belle" for her county, and the whole state's belles went to the festival to be in a parade. I was her official companion for the weekend which meant helping her to and from all the events, helping her with the hoop skirt up and down stairs and all sort of other things. I just knew that with a long weekend of festival food, I would surely not have lost and I might have gained. But no! I walked a LOT. My legs are so sore. And this festival was in a town that is situated on a steep hill, so lots of the walking was on a steep incline. Then there were the three flights of stairs that I had to climb carrying luggage to the dorm room where we stayed and all that stuff. Luckily we were fed by the festival committee and so we didn't have to buy the hot dogs and philly steak sandwiches that the vendors were selling. Instead, we got grilled chicken, fresh fruit salads and that sort of thing. I do have to admit that when I was served a piece of lemon meringue pie I scraped off the meringue and ate half of the lemon part. I don't like the fluffy part anyway, and half a piece of pie was more than plenty.

Did I mention that I have lost 14 pounds!? My husband apparently notices now, too. When I got home he said, "Hey! I think you left the rest of you in West Virginia!"

That is so awesome. I will be starting Phen in a couple of weeks. Just curious as to what types of side effects you had. Any experiences.....

I haven't had much to talk about. On the first day I was mentally jittery and just generally out of sorts. After the first day, that side effect was gone. Some people have nausea, headaches and sleeplessness for even up to two weeks, but it seems that for most people any side effect goes away in time.

I was expecting to have lots of energy, but that didn't really happen. I have a good sustained energy throughout the day, but I don't get any burst of it and I don't "crash" in the afternoon. Some days I have to really force myself to eat and other days I feel "snackie" and want to munch on something all day. Some days I only want regular (scheduled) meals and some days I don't. When I feel snackie, I usually make it something like raw nuts or fruit. But overall my appetite is less than half what it used to be. I treated my boys to brunch yesterday. I ordered a small salad with grilled chicken, cranberries and walnuts. Ordinarily, I could have eaten the regular size salad and all the bread that is served with it. Yesterday, I ate about half the small one and I didn't want any of the bread.

I think the biggest help to me has been "diet" meals like Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones. It's not that they are awesome food; it's more that they are teaching me portion control. The food usually isn't too bad, and I know that I get what's in that package and nothing else. My stomach is accustomed to small portions now so when I go to making my own food I will have a much better idea of how much is enough and how much is too much.

Good luck to you with Phen. It's making a huge difference for me. For the first time in a few years, I can honestly start thinking about not being fat in the near future. Before Phen, I kinda wished for it sometimes and was beginning to think it wasn't ever going to happen again for me.

Thanks! Can you tell that I am just a teeeensy bit excited? :D
