I started phen June 8th, so almost 2 weeks ago. In the first 5 I have lost around 8 pounds. I am happy about losing this weight, but I don't let it go to my head since I know that it was mostly all water weight (I started the Phen on my 2nd day of TOM). So I'm just taking it easy and I've lost 2 more.

One question I have is, what diets are you other members on? I'm eating around 800 calories a day. I know I should be eating more but I find it difficult to make it to ~1000-1200 and not overload on sodium and carbs.

Diabetes runs in my family so I always have to be very careful when eating sugars, especially fruit. And fruit although it's good carbs, it puts me at risk to depend on it (I have cousins who are now diabetic and are younger than I am). I also try to eat whole wheat products such as breads and cut out unnecessary fats. The problem is I'm consuming waaaaay too much sodium. I drink about 3 liters of water a day and only drink a glass of a 0 calorie/0 sugar drinks at dinner time, but I'd still like to know what other members eat while keeping their carb and sodium levels normal.

Welcome to the forum!!
I wanted to talk to you about diabetes. I am a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years and eating sugar DOES NOT CAUSE DIABETES. You say that diabetes runs in your family, type 1 or type 2? I count everything I put in my mouth and I eat sugar everyday. Just be careful about eating processed foods and you can eat everything in moderation. If you do not have high blood pressure, you can have up to 2000mg of sodium daily. I hope this helps!!! Good Luck!!:)

I actually have absolutely no idea what type lol. It runs on my mother's side and those relatives live in Mexico. I've actually never cared to ask. But I guess I might be super paranoid because I have younger cousins who are already diabetic (I'm only 18) and I know for a fact that I (used to) eat much more unhealthy than they did. I think I just lucked out and got some okay genes where I'm more resistant to it.

I keep tabs on everything that I eat too. For example yesterday I had around 800 calories and about 2,200 milligrams of sodium. I couldn't believe I had consumed that much. This morning I went looking at all the food labels and had never noticed that it all added up so quickly. I've always had normal blood pressure but this last time I went to the doctor, she told me that I was right on the border between normal and prehypertension. So this also makes me just a bit more paranoid. So I'd like to cut back on my salt intake and at the same time find a way to eat more calories without adding too much sodium and carbs.

If they are that young and not over weight they are type 1s and that is not caused by what you eat or what you weigh. It is an auto immune disease that attacks your pancreas. Just eat fresh chicken, fish and other lean proteins with good spices except for salt. I eat between 150-175g of carbs per day. So stop worrying about getting diabetes and just eat godd foods in moderation to keep your weight down.
