HI All!
I am starting Phentermine next week and just wanted to ask for some advice on which diets have worked, while on Phen, for other members. Low carb? 5 factor? Does anybody have any advice?

Because I know there is a time limit on how long you can be on it, I want to make sure I that I am super focused and lose as much as I can while I am on it. Hopefully that will give me the kick start I need to finally get this weight off!

People do so many different diets here. I do zig zag calorie counting. I eat between 1200 to 1500 on different days of the week so that my body does not get use the same thing eveyday. Just cut your calories, drink plenty of water and start exercising.
Welcome to the forum and good luck!!!:)

I agree with rozjordan. I stopped all the soda drinking and fast food, and just started cutting back calories.Portion control is also important every once in a while I do treat myself to something, but I dont go overboard on it.Usually weekdays I dont go over my calories, but on weekends I do have a little more than usual but not as much as before I started phen.I fell so good when someone offers me any junk food and I am able to say "No thank you" because before I would just say yes to everything.
You can eat about every 2 hours and drink lots of water.Hope you can find something that works for you!Keep me posted and take care!

Everyone has something that works best for that individual - see what you/your body can handle.
Personally, the low carb diet works well for me, and typically the weight stays off longer too.
Try South Beach/Atkins and see what you think :)

I loosely follow 'macrobiotics'. Whole foods, natural foods, raw foods.... I look at white flour and white sugar as junk food.
I know I'm eating less carbs, but I don't count them.
I count calories and keep a food journal. I do low impact cardio for 30-45 minutes a day (journal that, too).
I drink a ton of water.

good luck!

I have watched my intake of fat grams. My doctor has me between 20-30 grams of fat a day. I drink a TON of water. I no longer drink soda, which was really hard for me to give up...but once I stuck with it, water is pretty much all I crave.

I try to do my treadmill or go for a walk everyday for atleast 30 minutes. We are a very active family, so I don't always get to do the treadmill...but we are always on the go.

Good luck, this is a great place for inspiration = )

I have been wondering this very same thing. I had fabulous results with Atkins several years ago, and I was able to keep it off for five years (until I got a desk job and started eating junk again). Some people love Atkins, and some don't. I had great success with it, and it was really fast too (About 50 pounds in 4 months). As long as a person does it by the book, it's not unhealthy according to my doctor. Some folks just assume that Atkins means no carbs, but that's not true. Ya have to actually read the book and follow the plan exactly. It's restrictive, and that's VERY hard.

The problem with Atkins for me is that I really don't like meat. I am new to Phen, and I also really need a good eating plan. I am tossing back and forth between macrobiotics and a vegetarian diet. Vegetarian is easier for me.

I agree with everyone that you have to find what fits you best. I tried them all!! What works the best for me was........

1. Drink a lot of water! If you have to use crystal light packets with it.
2. Have a low carb diet: Examples-
Breakfast- EAS Myoplex Protein shakes or
eggs
turkey bacon

Lunch- Salads (used spritzer dressing) or
lean hamburger patty with fat free cheese
Protein shake
chicken breast and veggies

Dinner- Steak and salad or
grilled chicken breast
Fajita meat in a bowl with refried beans, fat free cheese, and fat free
sour cream as a bigger meal (it filled me up fast)

Snacks- reduced fat string cheese
Fruit- WATERMELON! I crave it all the time!!
Enviga calorie burning energy drink
boiled eggs
peanut butter and apples
I even rewarded my self with those 100 calorie packs too!

3. I tried staying under a 1200 calorie intake and usually tried for 1000.

4. If you do not feel like joining a gym then start out doing things at home and I promise once you start seeing results it will be easier!

Start out by jumping rope
walking
using dumbells ( I got a lot of work outs out of fitness magazines)
Mow the yard
If your house has stairs walk up and down starting at 15min

I Started doing all that and now I jog with my dog every morning, Use my slender tone ab belt after, do strength training 3 to 4 days a week at gym usually ending with the treadmill.

This is just an idea! I'm always up for trying new things or anyway to better myself! There are a lot of great people on the site that have wonderful advice! Thank you all!!:D

Start off with portion control as mentioned by one of the members and do lots of cardio.. I started Phentermine on Saturday (6/6/09) and started to jump rope this AM as part of a warm up.. My lil sister who is really into fitness suggested that I do these things to lose weight and to get in shape

Morning:
Jump rope (7 minutes as a warm up)
3 sets of 12 sit ups
3 sets of 12 lunges with 5lbs weights (each leg)

Day:
Power walk with 5lbs weights 30 minutes (during lunch break)

Night:
Just repeat the morning schedule and as you progress move on to longer times and add more sets each week.
Jump rope (7 minutes as a warm up)

hope this helps..:)

I need to buy a jump rope. I always loved jumping rope as a kid, but I haven't had one in a long time.

All those exercises are great. Just don't forget to also incorporate weight training with it. Lifting weights to build and strengthen muscle will make your body use more calories 24 hours a day. It increases your metabolism all the way around, including your resting metabolic rate. (You'll lose more, even while you are sleeping.) Cardio only burns more fuel while you are working out and shortly thereafter. The two together will give you a strong heart and lungs and also help your metabolism fire up and stay that way. Plus, toned muscles are sexy. :)
