I had my daughter in October of 2007 I gained 65 pounds with her on top of the 20+ pounds I gained after I got married I lost about 50 pounds on my own after I had my daughter but had a real hard time losing anymore. I was training for a half marathon which meant grueling amounts of running but the weight wold not come off. A friend at work referred me to a doctor she went to and I was prescribed Phentermine 37.5. I began taking it on December 2, 2008 at that time I weighed in at a hefty 206lbs (I tried to attach a before pic but it says the file is too big If anyone can help me get it uploaded that would be great). By the end of February 2009 I was down to 160! I have since stopped taking Phentermine and I have been able to whittle another 9 pounds off my frame by continuing to eat healthy and exercising and lifting weights 4 or 5 days a week. Phentermine totally took away any feelings of hunger ( I was a big eater, and I had a wicked sweet tooth) I wanted to be at my goal weight by my 25th birthday and I am so elated to say that I MADE IT:D. I went to se KA with my husband wearing skinny jeans and a top that showed off my slender body!!! It worked for me and I know it will work for you!!!

That is very encouraging! However, I do know its easier to lose when your younger (before your metabolism tanks - you ladies over 40 probably know what I mean)

This is my first day - motivation is always high on that 1st day - lets hope I can hang on to it!

Good work! I hope you keep it off!

I was overweight as a teenager and I was told by my doctor that I had a slow metabolism (but i have never used that as an excuse to allow myself to get out of shape). I have had to exercise at least 3 days a week and eat healthy (for the most part) since I was 14 to keep myself in normal shape. It has never come easy to me I have to eat right and exercise (I cannot just do one or the other) just to stay at a normal weight. I have worked myself to the bone to get and remain at a healthy weight. I turned to phentermine only after my running 25 miles a week was no longer taking pounds off me. So, no it is not easier for me because I am young. I worked extremely hard and will have to continue to do so. Please do not down play my weight loss. 55 pounds was a huge accomplishment for me.

Im very sorry - I was not trying to downplay your weight loss at all - I think you should be very proud of that and I am aspiring to follow in your footsteps. I was just saying what I have been told all my life - I have been overweight since my early 20's and now Im in 40s and it seems so much harder.

I wish you all the best, please accept my apology - I did not mean to offend, at all.

Thank you so much for sharing, these success stories keep me going! I too have fought a slow metabolism my whole life and am finding wild success on Phen. I see it as my training wheels, and I'm going to bust my bum to keep it off, but the thought of 'what if I can't' still haunts me. Seeing you lifts those fears.... you worked hard, and kept it off. THANK YOU!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Skinnyme.....I don't think GoodTxGirl was trying to down play your accomplishment of losing 55 pounds. She just assumed that younger people can lose weight easier. Just like alot of people can take what you are saying as being rude also! With your heading " It really does work if you let it"...so are you saying to all the people who have not had success that it is their fault...that they did not let it work?
My point is.....if people look for a reason to get mad...they will find one.

not at all ann123, I am referring to my first 2 weeks on Phentermine. I did not feel hungry but my old habit of eating mindlessly kept creeping up, but once I said "enough, I am going to listen to what my body is telling me" the weight started to come off. The heading was not meant to offend, I was hoping to inspire those who, like me have (in my case had) a problem with eating even when they are not hungry." I was not looking for a reason to get mad. I found the comment offensive so I posted about it (but we have since resolved that issue). What I did come here for was a little support and maybe to give a few others inspiration by posting about my success with phentermine. I do hope my post helped more than it offended.

any tips for 'life after Phen'?
Hello A_new_mii,
The way I keep myself on track is by working out 4 or 5 days a week (2 of those days I do resistance training, the other 3 I run for 35-45 minutes) keep a daily log of my calories on a white board I have posted on the fridge (i have to see it each time I go into the kitchen) That way I know I am not going over my daily allotment of calories for the day (anywhere between 1700-2000) I do not restrict myself to certain foods I just eat in smaller portions and keep a close watch on my calorie total. You would be suprised how much you can actually eat and still stay within that calorie range. The total is different for each person. It depends on how active you are among other things. But that is what works for me. I hope this helps you!

Thank you so much for the apology Goodtxgirl, I did not mean to jump on you. I just get a little touchy when it comes to my weight loss, because it was extremely hard for me to lose it even with phentermine I had to workout about 5 days a week and I ate, hate to admit it, only about 600 calories per day. That was my way, but I am in no way making a suggestion that anyone else should resort to starving their bodies. I was just so desperate to get the weight off I resorted to drastic, dangerous measures, and I only mention that to punctuate the fact that it was indeed very difficult for me, just as I am sure it was and still is very difficult for many members of this site.

skinnyme25 - I know alot of people are very sensitive about their weight so I do try to be very careful with what I say. I am just sorry that I offended you. I hope that I can use your inspiration to help me on my path :) I am sorry we got off to rough start.

Skinnyme25- You look like a completely different person...happier too! Congratulations on your weight loss because I know it's not easy...harder for some than others. Anyway, thanks for posting your pics...you have a lot to be proud of!! :)

Question: Did you dip down to 600 calories a day because even with a low calorie diet and exercise ypu still weren't losing weight? Just curious.

I was told by the doctor who prescribed the pills to stay right around 1000-1200 calories per day. The first week I was really bad and often went a little over 1200 but the second week I was eating around 1000cals and the weight was not coming off fast enough for me. I dropped down to 600 cals per day by the third week and that is when all the weight just started melting away. I have always worked out, even when I was heavy. I run 5ks and I added weight lifting twice a week when I started the pills and I don't know why it took me so long to start lifting weights because my body looks so much better with the muscle. I have not taken any pills since the end of February so the weight only took a little over 2 months to come off (cause the first 2 weeks were kinda slow). Sorry I am so long-winded, but I am still so happy I found phentermine, because it enabled me to drop down so low because I felt absolutely NO hunger pangs. I repeat that the way I went about it was WRONG, but it was all that worked for me and I have no regrets. Hope I answered your questions. Good luck with your weight loss!!!

Thanks for the reply Skinnyme. I am just so happy for you because losing 55 lbs. is life changing! My goal is around 57 lbs, now 47, and I hope to incorporate more running and weights in my workouts. I have problems with my feet, they get sore and numb and blistered after a short while of running. Ever have that problem? I used to run 20 - 25 mi. a wk. when I was 50 lbs. lighter and my feet were ok....I think the extra weight puts too much stress on my already troubled feet. Anyway, I am happy for you and I think you look great!

your before and after pictures are great! I'm curious as to what brand ** you are using? i lost 30 pounds in 3 months years ago and kept it off for 9 years...now I can't find a manufacturer of a good **. the one i used actavis, closed their plant..or i should say the DEA closed it for them--not up to par...I have tried lannett--made me sick. caraco made me tired...thinking about trying either qualitest or KVK or just going to straight Adipex..advice? I weigh about 165 and wanting to get down to 130 so I can flucutate between 130 and 140 and not beat myself up! Thanks

I haven't weighed less then 180 since I was 19. Your story is inspiring me and hope to have similar results, especially admist the swimsuit season!

I know what you mean. I turn 40 in October and my system started tanking at 37, about the same time I parked my rearend on the couch. LOL. Even so, your body changes, I used to think that was rubbish; it's not. In two years I gained 40 pounds, pretty scary. Come to think of it, the last full length photo I have was at my 37the birthday. I'm really looking forward to taking another at my big 40 soon, I'm trying really hard to celebrate this birthday with a new way of living.
