I have had very straight hair all my life. Since I have started taking Phentermine back in August of 08, my hair has turned naturally wavy and curly. I used to have to beat it into submission for it to curl or have any body. It's crazy. I am looking for the possible cause, so I thought I would start with Phentermine. Has anyone has this happen to them?

I have an idea that it might be hormone changes. That is what about 4 different people have told me. That would make sense since I turned 40 last July. Then I think great....if this is hormonal, what else is going to do a one-eighty on my body due to hormone changes? Kind of a scary thought lol.

My side effects with Phentermine are pretty typical listed side effects - sometimes I get very angry, irregular bowel movements (which I have counter-attacked with a high fiber diet, which has made my gassiness increase and is so lovely) - my acne has increased double-time and now I have acne on my chest very bad. I am on menocycline, but I think it is making it worse. I thought it might also be helped along by increased sweating from increased exercise. I have always had acne since puberty, but it has turned into cystic acne. I don't know if that was brought on by taking Phentermine.

I have one more month to go and the doctor will be taking me off of it slowly - pretty scared about coming off of it.

This doesn't sound like a mild hormonal imbalance, but something else that could also affect your hormones. The first thing this sounds like is Cushings. Your doctor seems to have excluded Cushings disease with a blood test. However, a 24-Hour Urinary Free Cortisol Level is the most specific diagnostic test. Your urine is collected over a 24-hour period and tested for the amount of cortisol. Levels higher than 50100 micrograms a day for an adult suggest Cushing's syndrome. The normal upper limit varies in different laboratories, depending on which measurement technique is used. I am not a medical professional. Please consult your Dr. Maegan Davis for medical advice.
