Hello everyone,

I am a working executive, working long hours and addicted to fast food, usually eating while I'm in the office. I seem to eat whether I'm hungry or not and have got to a stage where I am unable to control my eating habit. Unfortunately, my weight is increasing and I'm being forced to buy clothes a size larger than normal. I can devote a little time to exercise, but is there a recommended safe way to lose weight? I've heard of all these diets, such as Atkins, that don't sound very healthy at all.

hi,
yes there is a safe way. Yet I think your question can only be answered by a nutritionist. Make an appointment to see a nutritionist. They can design a personalized diet for you to follow that can include junk food as well. I think you should buy yourself a nutrition book so you can start learning about food contents and what your body REALLY needs to function.I read a book called "potatoes not prozac", I can't remember who wrote it, but it's really informative. It talks about emotional eating, and it guides you step by step to change your diet and what foods to eat to feel better emotionally and physically. It doesn't tell you to stop eating sweets, or the "bad things" you love to eat. This book is really good. I really really recommend reading it. Forget about Atkins, South beach diet etc. Learn the right way. I tried the south beach diet and couldn't get pass day 5 because I couldn't have any "real" food (carbs) so what i did to lose weight was reduce every portion in half. if I ate a bag of doritos, I would eat only half and share the rest w/ co workers. I switched from regular soda to diet... NO fruit juice, and most important, when having fast food like a cheese burger or pizza try to only eat a bit of it... half the cheese burger and 1 slice of pizza. I know, it's difficult to do, but believe me, when you manage to control your eating habits you will feel so much better about yourself mentally and your emotions will also switch to a better level. You will no longer feel regret after eating something, because you will know that you did nothing wrong by eating. Well, at least that's how I feel now. Once you get realize that YOU control what you eat, and that the food DOESN"T control you, you can start eliminating more of the bad things you used to eat.
Now about the exercise... You have to make time. Wake up an hour earlier, join a gym to close to work. Go for a walk during lunch... It only takes 45 minutes of cardio a day to lose 10 pounds in a month (if you eat right). It takes commitment my friend. Commit to taking care of yourself, because you are in control of your actioins, no one else is. Good luck! you can do it!

Hi,
I fully understand your problem - its quite common that people working long hours in offices pick up habits like eating junk food and set aside no time to exercise. Junk food is a serious health risk. My advice would be the following:
• Stop eating junk food, or at least cut it down to eating junk food a maximum of once per week.
• Start some simple, low key exercise such as walking
Use a great product I have tried that actually burns body fat. Highly scientific and armed with worldwide patents it should have a noticeable impact in a short period of time. More details here given below in my signature:

Hello everyone,

I am a working executive, working long hours and addicted to fast food, usually eating while I'm in the office. Unfortunately, my weight is increasing and I'm being forced to buy clothes a size larger than normal. I can devote a little time to exercise, but is there a recommended safe way to lose weight? Lyaaks.. three weeks ago I would have told you I have the same situation. I made a command decision to get rid of all of it from my house. Even better, I averaged my daily expenditure on fast food and convenience store food at around $15 a day. Now I put that money (like literally pull it out of the bank as if I spent it) and put it in a drawer at home. Once I get enough money I'm buying myself a fancy new digital camera with it. Being able to look at that money and know its gonna be a great camera soon is so motivational.

Another weird thing.. try this.. cut it out for three or four days. Totally, cold turkey. When you feel that compulsive need to stop in a grab a burger, stop by the market and grab a fresh sandwich or fruit option or sushi. Something you enjoy, maybe not as much, but something ready to go and easy (I know a lot of people will say "No, processed foods are bad, stay away from a low calorie frozen lunch.. but when you're breaking an addiction, step down any way you can!).. anyway, do this for three or four days, cut out all sodas, and an amazing thing will happen (At least it did for me).. on that fifth day or so you'll think about having a soda and suddenly the thought of it seems sugary and heavy, almost gross in your body. The idea of something drenched in grease will make you queasy. Its amazing how quickly the body adjusts to better food!

If you want, I have a different thread on a different topic for a 14 day accountability challenge where starting monday (6/21) for 14 days anyone participating will write their habits and routines, failures and successes.. and we'll offer motivation, support and similar stories. You should come join me, I'd love to help you through this. :) If you can't find the thread, just private message me. You can do this! I promise! I did, and I was eating fast food at least twice a day. I'm only five days into it and I feel so much better.

I understand, I'm a mother and I work full time. I felt I had no time to plan my meals so I'd grab whatever was close by, which led to afternoon snacking and evening snacking.

It's almost impossible to go from poor eating habits to perfection in one step. Nutritional success is about making better choices. It needs to be a lifestyle change.

It's a whole new mindset you have to make. It takes planning and focus, otherwise you eat whatever you can get your hands on in a hurry because your body is hungry.

After I started going to the gym and saw that it took over 60 minutes to burn 450 calories it really made me focus on what I was putting in my mouth.

On the weekends I plan out my week ahead, breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner so I have everything I need in a hurry.

It is very hard. Phentermine is the only thing that jump started my success. It has given me no desire to munch on snacks, it's amazing! I do suggest you have a realistic and healthy goal in mind. Trying to go from 202 pounds to 101 is not going to happen for years, if ever. And I don’t know many women that can weigh that little and be healthy. I suggest shooting for 180 then shoot for 160 and so on. That way you can actually meet your goals and succeed. Good luck!

I used to be the same way when I worked long hours. For me, all that fast food eating was due to the stress from work. But in reality - I ate fast food out of convenience.

I'd suggest you start by investing some time in planning. If you have a frige in your office - bring healthy foods that you can snack on; keep protein bars in your purse, car, briefcase; store a case of water in your office.... be creative.

If you have no choice - you don't have to get a burger and fries and a shake - get a salad. You should look up the fast food places you go to and pre-select the lower calorie options like - salad and lwo cal dressing. If you want a burger choose a hamburger (no cheese). I order salads all the time but becasue the dressings are so high in calories I make my own vinegar and oil dressing and bring it with me. I measure out 2 tbs and bring it in a condiment container like the ones you can get at a restaurant.

When you start to look at your favorite items and see the amount of calories, I promise you will never eat what you use to eat again. In some places the shake alone is over 1100 calories and that bacon cheeseburger could be 990 calories then there is the fries - NOT WORTH IT. By the time you are done, you may have eaten over 3000 calores FOR LUNCH.

I now keep a list of all the fast food places near my home and work of all the lower calorie foods (under 500 calories) so I know ahead of time what items I am willing to eat.

I hope this has given you some ideas. Working in a stressful situation is hard on your food intake but not impossible if you take the steps to plan ahead and be prepared.

Good luck.

I have been on Phen for 2 weeks now and I promise 2 weeks ago I was a junk food addict!! lol Finally, when I saw some FAT, and I mean FAT pictures of me posted on facebook I said that I was stronger than stupid ol' food!! Phen has really helped me be able to control the cravings. I have started drinking water constantly and it really keeps me full. I make sure to eat within an hour of waking up and then have a piece of fruit a few hours later...then a sensible lunch...another snack....and then dinner. (I used to love potato chips so a new snack for me is dry Special K Fruit n Yogurt ceral...kinda gives me the "feeling" of eating chips...lol) Really, I feel like I am eating all the time!! I have also tried to stop eating after 7:00. If I get really hungry at night, I eat an apple. Simple changes have really started to make me feel proud of myself...Although I want to lose ALL of the weight right now...I realize that it takes time to make life changes. Good luck to you.....you can definatly beat the JUNK FOOD habit!! :)

I too am addicted to junk food, especially sugar/chocolate. I can do good for 2 or 3 days of eating healthy, no chocolate, but then the next day, it's all or nothing, meaning, I will eat 4 or 6 full size chocolate bars all in one sitting. I feel like an addict. I didn't think it was possible to be so addicted to sugar. I have tried taking L-Glutamine ( it's suppose to curb carb and sugar cravings ) well, it doesn't work for me, wast of money. I just started taking Phen again, I have the 37.5 tablet, I cut it in half and then cut the half into 4 pieces, yes, because I am taking it slow, I need my body to get use to taking it. I get Anxiety very easily, I take a small does of Xanax nightly to fall asleep, my PCP says I'm just a natural wound up person, I wish I looked like how I move around, I'm very fast paced but again, I don't look like I am. I'm only on day 3 of taking Phen, I take it an hour after eating breakfast, and I can feel it in my system, even for the small piece that I am taking, so it is curbing my snack attacks between 8am - 12pm, but it's not taking care of my late afternoon cravings for sugar. I guess my next test is taking another small piece around 12pm. Why does food have to tasts so good, especially the food that's bad for us.

Last year I did Adkins and was able to lose 20 pounds, I can't tell you how many times I tried to do it this year, ah like, every week, becuase on the 3rd or 4th day I ruin it by going on a chocolate binge, and then I start all over again and again :(

I'm ready to get hypnotized, I wonder if it works ? I know it's early with just starting Phen again, but I'm afraid the urge for sugar is going to take over and win.

On a good day this is what I eat

Breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs
Lunch - broccoli and boneless/skinless chicken breast
Snack - some canned salmon, egg, celery, onion, mayo salad ( like tuna salad buy made with salmon )
Dinner - big big lettuce/vegetable salad

If you could make it through a week of less than 20g of carbs you would be surprised at how your cravings will go away. I am the same exact way, and once I let myself have too many carbs I will not be able to control my fast food intake, but if I can grit my teeth through one week of less than 20g, go through the withdrawal, I no longer crave it like a mad person and can allow small amounts without throwing myself off the wagon, so worth it in the long run. Also stock your cabinets/fridge with ingredients to make low carb desserts, with chocolate substitutes, I myself like no sugar added fudgesicles, sugar free pudding, chocolate protein shakes, pies, and bars. You should never deny yourself anything, just find things that you love made healthier. I cut out white breads and flours and substituted whole wheat low carb bread, almond/soy flour, etc. I dont do adkins or south beach, I just substitute bad carbs for good carbs, and eat fruits/veggies high in carbs in moderation.

If I have sweets in the house, I will nibble on them; doctor told me nothing with more than 8 grams of sugar and I spend a lot of time reading labels when shopping. I was told that popcorn is good to snack on and I eat it a lot. At work, you could take a sandwich made with whole grain bread and turkey and maybe yogurt, fruit, healthty food; if you have a place to refrigerate them or get an insulated bag and brown bag at work with healthy food. Work was where I was gaining as I would snack on small pieces of candy and that added up to a lot of sugar and calories. I think you have to exercise to stay healthty and keep weight down and I have to make myself do exercise. Weight Watchers has a good program and they have a lot of frozen food that you can buy at the grocery; years ago, I lost weight with them. The doctor that I see now says the three evils are sugar, white flour and starches. He does not want patients to eat potatoes in any form, no colas and no artificial sweetners, no sweets. I do cheat and put Splenda in my coffee. Good luck!
