Anyone have a good book or website that I can use?

I'm REALLY trying to eat healthier. My hubby and kids eat anything. It's me. I'm super picky. I'm an only child so my mom would let me eat what I wanted. If I wanted pasta at 10pm she'd make it. Now I dont like anything

I Dislike:
Seafood - was allergic to a good part of it most of my life and now hate the taste
Veggies - besides salad ones - yuck! I want to "hide" them in foods though!
Brocolli, Cauliflower, Peas, Carrots, spinach, etc
Beans - I dont like any of these. In any shape, way or form
Mushrooms - can't I hide these too?
Oatmeal/Granola - reminds me of eating cardboard!
Dairy - hate it all ! Yogurt, cheese, ice creams, creams, etc.. I do make myself drink milk
Desserts - I dont and never have liked cakes, pies, pastries.. and I'm GLAD!

I have a problem with textures like yogurt.. I tried it alot of times but can't get it down without gagging :(

I'm having an awful time finding things to make. Every recipe has something in it that I dislike. I want to try new things but hate to make a full recipe that I might end up hating, then have to make a 2nd meal!

Thanks :) Hope I'm not hopeless

Going to get there

Hey girl! Can you make the recipes that sound good without the ingredients that you don't like? I have to do that on occasion. When it comes trying something you could cut it in half or quarters, make only a portion to try? I don't know of any cook books or Web sites to help you find good recipes. These are just suggestions I have used.

You're not hopeless, you just know what you like. It's all about finding foods you will like and eat after the phen journey to continue your healthy lifestyle. I bought a new cookbook called "Hungry Girl" by Lisa Lillien. Some of the recipes are made for single servings which is great because my husband doesn't share my desire to eat healthy. Her website also has some helpful information and tips that have been useful to me. I have also gone to the website "Half My Size". This has helped me find some healthy recipes.

Hi, You don't happen to have reflux? I had a hard time with certain textures and swallowing. I am on reflux meds and it has really helped. Luckily I like almost all foods, but also have food allergies. It can be a challange sometimes.

Try your cooked veggies just slightly steamed. Since you like salad veggies, maybe the overcooked mushy ones are the problem. Try different spray on dressings on them.

I hated mushrooms and spinach when I was a kid because of the textures. Love them now.
Good luck.

Good luck.

What foods do you really like? Maybe you can make up your own recipes based on the tastes/textures of those foods. I know you said you don't like cheese but just for an example, slim jims or like style of meat paired with moz. cheese kind of gets the taste of pizza w/pepperoni. There are endless seasonings and styles of prepping chicken and steak as well & you can pair either one of those up with salad.

FYI :) You eat 1000 times more foods that I do, trust me! LOL

Do a google search for "picky eating adults" (with quotes).

Fortunately for me, the foods that I can eat, I'm able to eat day in and day out.
Can't eat:
Most meats (can eat hamburgers, cheeseburgers, PLAIN, ketchup only, not too thick or too dry)
All vegetables (oddly, except friench/steak fries or fried okra...LOVE the smell of baked taters though!)
All fruits (love OJ though...no pulp)
Okay and most of the99.95% of the foods in the world...milk...

It's easier to list what I can:

Can eat plain or pepperoni pizza
Can eat plain fried eggs or scrambled/omelettes, with cheese only, or hard boiled eggs (not the yolks)
Sausage patties
Fried or scrambled eggs
Some fast foods: chicken tenders, fried or grilled shrimp (grilled is a new addition), hot dogs
Plain pasta (I can eat cheese, but not on my macaroni...ewwww!)
Ham sometimes
Some plain cereals (froot loops, honeycombs)
Breads (YUMMMMMM)
And ALL of these foods must be the plainest possible, or with ketchup/red sauce (nothing in it) if applicable
ONLY Orange juice (but can't eat oranges) and grape juice (no grapes)
Many fairly plain desserts (brownies, cake, ice cream etc...NO additions of nuts or coconut or whatever)
A few other things here or there...but that's about IT! for what I can eat! I can't eat some things that I do like, mixed together....no sausage or hamburger pizza or omelettes, no cheese on my mac (the smell is SICK!!!)

And it's somewhat biological/hereditary...I met my half sister for the first time and she was raised by our birthparents, and she has it too...just not as bad as I do....and our 'dad' has it somewhat too. Gladly, my kids do NOT! :) My (adoptive) parents say I was like that from birth....with baby foods and everything, as far as able to eat it. It wasn't learned, although my parents tried to make me overcome it, which made it worse...but that isn't their fault. They did the best they knew! :)

Anyway, hope this let's you know you aren't the only one. I am still able to 'diet', but it's 1000 times harder than for most people. I can't eat salad or fruits or vegetables...and believe me, I've tried! :)
