I was just sitting here in my size 10 jeans that I bought last Friday (YAY ME) and it made me think....
When I was younger, (Like WAY younger...High School 1985) and I went to Weight Watchers, I remember seeing pictures of myself when I was wearing a size 8 or 10 and thinking "I need to gain a little weight, I look sick." My face was all sunken in and I looked like Skeletor, my hip bones were showing through shorts and stuff, and my wrists looked they would break at any moment....So I got back up to a 12 and was VERY comfortable with how I looked. Today, I'm in a 10 and I still need to lose at least 10 and maybe even 20 lbs. How can that be??
So, I guess I'm wondering are sizes cut more generously these days or has my body just changed to where I'm more filled out in areas and not so much in other areas? How can I fit in a smaller size and still need to lose weight. I know I'm not imagining the roll I still have on my belly or the Ursula back fat that is slowly melting....so what gives??
Anybody know?

I know exactly what you mean! Even though I am not there yet! Have you tried a 10 in the Jr's section, I think they run a little smaller than womens sizes! They have definitely changed through out the years! I mean Marilyn Monroe was a size 12 but I don't think that she'd be a 12 now!
You still look great & have done an AWESOME job!!! :D

yeah it depends on your body really, at your size I would still be a size 14, just because I have a booty, years ago I was 150-160 and wore 11-13... i think it just really depends on how your body is shaped etc...but honestly you look great!

Thank you, I feel pretty good but I know I still need to lose that roll and wonder if that will make me an 8 or if will just even out and I will stay a 10. It's just strange. And yes, I have tried Jr pants. They are sized in half sizes...9/11/13 and 11's fit just like 10's in misses. I can't wear 'women's' anymore.

Sizes are definitely cut more generous today. In 1985 I was a teen & wore a size 7/8. I weighed about 130 lbs. I remember it well because when I joined the military a couple of years later I weighed 132. I was stick thin with no curves, but I did have big boobs. Later, I went up to about 143 & was a size 9/10 for the longest & still really didn't have curves.
Today I am a size 8 or 10 & people call me skinny, but I'm far from skinny. I am very curvy with a small waist, a flat but flabby tummy, with hips & booty. My problem with clothes today is that all my pants or jeans gape at the waist. I tried on a pair of Rampage jeans in a size 9 & they were too big in the waist and snug in the butt & hip area. I am way too curvy for Jr clothes.
Lady Shaz, your bottom half is pretty thin. I'm jealous that you don't have any hips. I want to keep my booty, but can do without my hips. I think as you lose a little more & continue to firm up you may very well be a solid 8. Are thos 10s that you are wearing now? If so, look at how baggy they are. You're probably in a 10 because of your mid-section. I mean really though, you have got to be super proud to be in a size 10. You are doing & looklng great!

The last time that my body saw a size 10 was back in 1982 or 1983.. Yes 25 or 26 years ago.. It feels great to be there again.. This was my goal to get to 145 and size 10. Now I have the hardest work ahead of me.. MAINTAINING. But I can do it.. I know I can..

I know something has to be different. I'm in a size 10 and my mirror doesn't lie no matter how much I beg. LOL
Whenever I do the "naked check" I definitely still see plenty of mommy apron that spreads out over my sides still and hangs over the front to hide some of mamma's special place. ;)
As a teen, a size 10 meant a nice round butt instead of the pancake I'm packing now. It also meant my thighs looked a tad big and my waist looked pretty dang small. Now a size 10 means I look like a "normal" size woman in my age bracket. Ugh! I don't like that sentence at all. Now I feel old and I shall stop.
