It seems that I'm having an odd side effect I haven't read about yet. I am FREEZING cold all the time now. This is very unusual for me. Anyone else have this one? Just curious!

I am definitely a lot colder than I used to be but I always get cold when I lose weight. I didn't think about it being a side effect!

Yep! I'm cold all the time. I even turn on a heating pad under the covers before I crawl in bed at night LOL!

I like to say it's not a side-effect of Phen but more of a good sign that I don't have so much blubber on me anymore to make me insulated. LOL

I am happy to be feeling cooler! I was one solid hot flash it seemed like, this has gotten rid of them. I notice though that as the weather cools I get chilled easier.

I FEEL LIKE AN ICE CUBE! I was beginning to wonder if my blood wasn't pumping right, but it is. I guess I have lost my insulation. lol. Nothing a sweater and socks won't take care of this winter. lololol.

This is my first week and my hands and feet are like ice cubes. I never thought of it as a side effect. Weird.
Does anyone know why this happens?

Hi My name is Lisa and I am glad to know that I am not the only one. I don't know why this happens. I have been having flushing....turning red and splotchy...my doctor said that it is a stimulant and this is also a side affect.

This is my first day and I've had goosebumps on and off all day today. I was wondering if it was a side effect...

OMG, my feet have been FREEZING!!! For me it is definetly a side effect of the phen, cuz when I don't take it my feet are fine! I even wore socks to bed the other night, for the first time, lol :) It doesn't help that I live in WI where it gets down to -20 in the winter!

I'm not really sure if it is a side effect of the phen or not. However, there seem to be a lot of people on here with the same problem, so maybe it is. I freeze, too, but I have anemia really bad. I have to take three prescription iron pills a day. If I were you, I'd get my iron checked to to be on the safe side!! Good luck!!:)

This is totally normal while on phen.......there is an old post from decades ago explaining why.....something about it narrowing the tiny blood vessels......once I was off phen......I quit freezing...... now I burn up....lol I think I would rather be cold..I can put on a sweater and socks....I can't take my skin off though:D

I wish I had that side effect...I feel like my normal body temp is 100degrees now...I am always hot...of course it doesn't help that it is has been above 90 everyday for the last couple months. But, I will come into the air conditioning and it takes me several hours to cool down. I'm too young for hot flashes!!!

How strange. My whole life I have always been cold! My reg temp the past 2 yrs has been around 96.7 average sometimes less! On a 90 degree day I will be in the shade of a tree and the breeze will give me goosebumps, I always wanted to wear socks and full on sweats to bed. I have my heater and a sweater on at work year round, BUT since starting phen I have been soo warm! I am warm when I sleep, warm around the house, outside etc. It is so weird. I sweat more and pretty much never feel cold. I wonder what causes it to be diff for some people? I think the warm I feel is prob a lot more normal though. I am not overheated, but the cold I used to be was definitely not normal.

This thread just jumped out at me. I saw my nurse practitioner today and told her that my OB/GYN gave me a sample of hormones a month ago when I started taking phen. I'm post-menopausal (2 yrs since last TOM); I was having horrible hot flashes. I'm mostly non-compliant with stuff that doctors recommend, so I hadn't started taking them. Now I'm cold a lot of the time. To heck with hormone supplements!

I'm usually really hot during the day since it's summer and I have more energy to move around, but i get this too. But it's only when I lay down to take a nap or go to bed at night. I even laid down for a nap with the baby in the middle of the day and started freezing lol.:p

Hi Lauri 13, I too have had the freezing side effect as well... I am just glad we have a hot tub at my house, to warm up in. haha! I started Phen 11/18/2010.. and have noticed I have way too much energy, a red rash like on my face and neck?? Have you had any of that? Just keep warm clothes on :) Btw, I just noticed you are from my home town. Good luck on your weight loss

I freeze at night. (Unusual in AZ)
But during the day when I exercise, I get hot and my skin actually feels hot to the touch.
Definitely a side effect from the Phen I think.

I'm taking 37.5 and my face broke out the first week big time! Almost cystic like.... What is worse is I work with an older guy that loves to point out stuff like that. He's like Hey what's that on your face ! ERRRRRR! Anyway my feet and hands freeze all the time now. By the way how much water are you drinking? Just realized this was a super old post... Oh well.

So I'd lost about 15lbs and I told my dr our house thermostat is always set the same and it used to be great for me but now I'm freezing and my hubby is fine! He just smiles at me and says "You've lost how much fat? 15lbs? That was insulation, you don't have as much anymore." I was so relieved lol. He told me that muscle is what our body used to make heat, and fat insulates us and keeps it in. I thought I might be getting sick and my hubby wanted me to stop hiding under blankets and socks and "get used to it" thinking that would make it better. Dr told him that if we did that my metabolism would slow to try and stay warm and body would want to put back on that insulation. No way! Now the house is 7 degrees warmer than it was. Hubby has started losing weight too so now I can keep it warmer and use less blankets. Dr also told us that his wife yells at him if he moves the thermostat below 85, I'm good at 73 right now, and can't wait to need it to be warmer!

So if you're feeling cold, as I still do (brrr Washington!) it may just mean you have lost weight. Perhaps you can celebrate this chilly victory with me and our cold fingers and toes. Also check into the iron a few others posted about earlier, that sounds like a good idea. I know mine is fine (just had it tested) and I'm still cold, but I'll take some more anyway b/c I can't control the thermostat at work.

I have noticed that my feet and hands get very cool at random times. I'm usually really hot blooded. I kinda like the change!

my hands and feet are freezing and I used to be the one that was always too warm lol I'm going to try the iron but that may aggravate the other side effect some people have - constipation lol. I'd rather freeze if that happens to me :)

I am freezing cold literally all of the time! I am NEVER warm except when working out! I have weighed this same weight before and I was not cold like this then, it has to have something to do with the phen. I actually went out and bought a heated mattress pad because I am so cold at night! Don't get me wrong, if I have to freeze a little to not look like a fatty than I am fine with it! lol!

Shocks always make to persons in freezing situation, its not in our control but automatic function done by our body.Depression cause to loss of fats in our body as well with serious results.

I found a post from several years ago, and being what my wife calls a super nerd, I started researching to see if there was any truth to it. And sure enough there is a lot of truth to it
The answer as to why we a are always cold was right here in front of our noses all the time. Yes right hear on this website under Phen Info.
It states: How does Phentermine Work-

It works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland and affecting certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. The hypothalamus is the region of the brain that controls the automatic nervous systems, regulating sleep cycles, BODY TEMP.,appetite, etc.
I guess it really is not listed under a symptom because some people my not be
bothered by it.
I thought this was interesting since a lot of us have been asking each other about being cold.
Since I've seen several people posting here about it. I thought I'd repost it. It makes alot of sense now since I used to be roasting all of the time like an oven and now am feeling more like a freezer, lol.
