Heart beat so hard I was shaking

So I had a really freaky experience today at school. I was just sitting in class trying to breathe, I've been having issues with that. I can't get a deep breath. Anyway, I was reading, so obviously I was looking down and I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my shirt was jumping to a beat. After concentrating on it, I realized my heart was beating so fast and hard that it felt it was going to jump out of my chest. The beat caused my whole body to shake with each beat. Someone actually asked me if I was okay because my shaking was so bad. It went away after about 30mins.
I hadn't exercised, in fact I walked pretty slowly to class because I had a lot of time .

So I was wondering if the hard beating is okay or normal. It really freaked me out and I just want to know if like.. If the heart is beating that fast/hard, can a person pass out? I was really afraid I would, but I wasn't dizzy. I don't think I was having a panic attack or anything.

Yes it could make u pass out or have a heart attack! and u need to be very careful with this problem....if it continues u need to talk to ur docter or maybe take a half tablet in stead of a whole one...I work in a hospital and i see so many people have heart problems and if ur heart is beating like that then im sure ur blood presure is very high also and thats a risk for heart attack or stroke!!!! please be careful cause ur life is way more important then losing weight.....just slow down and also drink tons of water with this phen!!! and make sure ur eating right as well and dont drink caffeine while on the phen cause it will only make the matter worse............maybe ur body just needs time to adjust to it but b cautious in the mean time.....keep in toucch and when ur feelin like that try to stay calm and take some deep breaths through ur nose and out ur mouth,,,,just pace it slow and try to relax urself......goodluck and i will be keeping u in my prayers!!!!!!

Okay, that's what I thought. I was thinking about going to the Dr on campus, but they go by appointments only and I was afraid of driving to my family Dr in that state. I'll try to get my hands on one of those blood pressure checky things.

hmmm. maybe you should call your dr. and tell him. I don't know but sounds like an anxiety attack to me, thats what happens to me and it will last about 20 to 30 minutes. do you suffer at all with panic attacks?

Nope. Don't panic attacks usually cause feelings of worry and terror? I just sat there and took notes fine, well as fine as I can be while shaking.
I just looked up panic attacks, it totally wasn't it. It was all about the heart.
I'll call my Dr tomorrow.
With all the drugs he's had me on, I'm beginning to wonder if he wants me dead.

What all are you taking? yeah it wasn't panick attack it makes think your gonna die, you would not have sat there calmly taking notes. Kym

I take 500mg of Depakote for migraines and insomnia, but due to the side effect known as "Depakote hunger" which I've already fallen victim to, my Dr wanted me to try Phen. He also said it would be okay for me to take sudafed while on those things, but I haven't taken sudafed in probably a week.

sudafed??? really, that has phenylephrine in it. note the first four letters"phen" hmmm call pharmacist, I dont think that you should be taking both!!!! I am not a doctor or phx. however I used to be a regular user of ephedra, and I made the mistake once of taking an ephedra based product "hydroxycut" and a cold medication with psuedaphedrine and ended up in the ICU hooked up to a heart monitor because my heart was POUDING out of my chest you could freakin see it!!! after 10mg of valium and Iam not sure what else, some other pain meds. actually I think morphine I was in excruciating pain, from my muscles tenseing up they told me, NO I did not have a heart attack, The ICU nurse told me I was one of the lucky ones, and NEVER mix such drugs. I was 27 years old. Again Iam not sure but be so so careful. remember as a general rule pharmacist are better people to ask then doctors.

hEY THERE im just checkin in on u? have you had any more trouble with ur heart racing? have u checked your blood pressure lately? u can buy a blood pressure machine at wal mart or walgreens or other places and can get some that goes on ur wrist and its digital easy to read and really accurate...maybe u should buy one to keep up with ur b/p......just a suggestion....I have been thinking about you and hope everything is goin well for you.....I know sometimes we want to lose weight so bad and look and feel better and then things like this happen and it just discourages us so much but I think u are gonna be ok just talk to ur docter and maybe he should take u off some of the other meds if possible just until u lose some weight or get to ur goal!!!!!! Yea u did the right thing by not driving in that situation......well keep in touch and good luck DONT GIVE UP U WILL GET THROUGH THIS!!!!!! HUGZZ mary:)

When I went to bed last night my heart started thumping pretty hard, but not as bad as it was earlier in the day. And it didn't last very long. My sinuses are really screwed up and that's why my Dr said it should be okay to take the sudafed.
I feel kind of bad because I originally said "hell no" to the phen, but when I found out how much people gain from the Depakote I freaked out and gave in.
I'm going to try to get an appointment with the Dr on my campus to check my BP and heart, etc. My family Dr is next to impossible to get a hold of.
I made a point to tell my RA and roommate about the drugs I'm on just in case anything happens. I'm cutting back to half a pill a day and I'll see if that changes anything.
Do you guys know how long until the tremors stop? It's really annoying.

Yea its a good idea u told people what ur on so they will no and can look out for u alos.....hmmm the tremors? well i have never had that kind of effect and i havent heard of anyone else having them....wow im not sure about that i think u may be having a serious effect with the phen....or maybe its the other meds ur takin,,,,,,and i think once ur body adjusts to all the meds u will be fine....and once u start losingthe weight u will be even happier...so im crossing my fingers all the bad things will end sooon and u can just feel good and relax and lose lots of weight........thanxxx for keepin in touch im always here for u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have a good night......

So I had an appointment with a nurse today and everything turned out fine, she said my blood pressure probably should've been just a tad higher though since I practically ran to the office. I also called and told my Dr, but only left a message with a receptionist. And I called the 24hr hotline with my insurance company to double check side effects and the lady told me to stay off caffeine and that I can take the sudafed as long as I take it atleast 4hrs after the phen. AND while at the infirmary, the nurse helped me make plans in case anything happens while I'm in class or my room. So everything is figured out in case, god forbid, it happens again.
And finally, I told my mom this morning and she freaked out and decided I am no longer taking the Phen.

awww thats good to hear im glad u got everything checked out today.....so u told ur mom and ur gonna get off the phen now? well u no sometimes it is for the best u no...i mean i wish u could take it and have good results with it but if its making u sick u dont need to take it....cause ur heart is nothing to mess around with......well i been on phen and i dont no what to think of it...im not even feelin anything with it now like when i first started takin it.....i dont have no energy like i was at first and i been getting realy hungry with it....so if it dont do much for me im not gonna take it no more eithert......not worth it....anyways message me anytime....let me no what u plan on doing???if u will change ur mind or not about the phen.....but i can understand ur mom worrying and not wanting u to take it.............best of luck.....goodnight....
